We are marching towards Sodom, we are marching back towards the Tower of Babel, and to put it bluntly, if you are not standing on the road attempting to dissuade people from following that path, if you are simply standing on the side of that road and watching them rush towards those places, you are as much at fault as they are.
“Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?” (Psalm 94:16)
You are waiting for the Almighty to intervene, either through some earthly cataclysmic event or through the Rapture, when there is more than this one verse offered that proclaims we are to stand against unrighteousness, we are to warn them of the dangers of the path they have chosen, the eternal damnation of all who do not call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the salvation of their soul.
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:” (Matt. 7:13)
We know what is approaching, it has been coming closer for two thousand years now, but how many are warning, how many are standing in the gap pleading with the Lord for just one more opportunity to express His love to just one more lost soul, before these days of grace come to a close?
If you are reaching out to the lost in whatever way the Lord has led you to do, you are saved, if not, if you are simply watching and waiting, your salvation is in question.
I know of nowhere in the Scriptures, either Old or New Testament, where those who serve the living God were told to remain silent about Him, where anyone was instructed to not warn others about the wrath of God, to keep quiet about their faith except in a religious setting. Rahab saw what was approaching, the Queen of Sheba saw how Solomon had been blessed, the nation of Gibeon was so fearful they tricked Joshua, three thousand came to the Lord in the day of Pentecost, the reformation started because one man saw through the lies of Romanism. And now we are marching back to Sodom and Babel.
The word serving infers action, and there is little action of warning in these days from those who claim Christ as Lord. No, instead many have fallen into the trap of attempting to love them out of willful sin and disobedience, “Repent!” is not a word heard much anymore. They profess Christ yet do not warn the lost, they attempt to become their friend first, a friend of those we are commanded to treat as Gentiles.
There is a difference between preaching and being the light we are told to be, but a light does not do any good if it is not standing on the path showing the way, and exposing the pitfalls. “For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matt. 22:14)
Only the few understand this letter, only the few are acting on behalf of the Lord, only the few have answered the call to go into all the world. The rest of you do not need to be concerned with giving your account before the Lord, you will have at least one thousand years in hell to think up excuses that will be heard before you are cast into eternal darkness.
