“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Prov. 14:12)
That way is called being morally correct in whatever society you live in, obeying the laws because you should, because it is the right and proper thing to do. It is called fitting into society, for some, it is obeying the Ten Commandments, never reproving or judging, it is live and let live, it is being a good person.
“Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” (Gal. 4:16)
If you want to make an enemy of someone, not one that may necessarily seek to take your life, though they may, but one that will no longer have any desire to speak to you ever again, then tell them the truth about themselves, tell them they are not now nor ever will be good enough, never accepted by the Living God no matter how dedicated they are to being morally correct.
They will hate you.
“I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” (Psalm 82:6)
They know this truth, they know they have free will, the ability to serve whatever god they choose to serve, and they have chosen their concept of what “right” is, their idea of what makes them acceptable in the sight of men, and therefore in the eyes of God.
They are, in their own minds, simply a good person who has occasionally made a few mistakes, nothing serious, nothing that would land them in prison, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that nearly everyone has done at least once in their life. Nothing that the Lord will not forgive, for after all, He knows we are human.
Their lives seem right in their eyes.
When they think of evil, they think of the murderer, the rapist, the thief who has been in and out of jail several times, the drug addict on the street, the prostitute and the ill-behaved of society, not themselves, for they follow the rules, they adhere to the moral construct, they are the good people who obey.
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” (John 15:18)
Why would these “good” people hate you then? Because you tell them the truth about themselves in accordance to what the Word of God says concerning them, that they are the wicked that the wrath of God abides on, that because they believe their good lives, their good works that outweigh the bad deeds they have committed, will be seen as just as acceptable as the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by the Almighty.
They are detestable in His sight, because pride will not allow them to accept grace.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” (Eph. 2:8)
The lie of every works-based religious cult is built upon these precepts, this inner sin called pride that believes created dust can choose its own eternal path, and that path will be accepted by the One who created that dust.
“I was a good person!” is screamed in hell many times a day.
You are going to meet them, you are going to tell them the truth about themselves, and they are going to hate you, because they are a good person. You will lose friends and family members, you will be ostracized from your community, you will be despised by those who no longer speak to you but will still smile and say “Hello” when they meet you, for that is what good people do, they are polite to a fault, they do not judge people, live and let live is their motto.
Their way is right in their eyes, and they will suffer eternally because of it.
You have a decision to make here, you can either explain to them the truths from the Word of God as to why being a “good” person is not acceptable to the Living God as a means to enter into His Kingdom, or you can explain to God why you didn’t tell them.
