Borrowed Truths

Borrowed Truths

People lie, the question is, is every lie intentional, is the truth ever averted for a plausible, good reason.

Most individuals in positions of assumed, or if you prefer, granted power would say yes, and would cite national or business security issues, perhaps intellectual rights, they would say that certain facts, certain truths, if placed in the wrong hands, could have serious implications, and they would be correct, but does that justify lying. When a reporter asks a certain question of one of these individuals on such subject matters, the answer could quite simply be “You do not need to know,” but of course all this does is pique curiosity and so those who are being questioned will simply present a falsehood, a half-truth, a “white” lie.

It is amazing, all of the words that have been invented to help us cover ourselves in lies. Personal retribution, all lies are for one reason, to keep personal accountability away from us. “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” (Rev. 2:10) How many individuals have capitulated to pressure over the ages, how many have denied the Lord Jesus, and for what reasons.

One must contemplate this question in that day, if it is to come upon you, when and if the pain, trials, and tribulations arrive in your life, was I lying then, of have I been lying to myself all along.

I have heard of credible accounts of individuals who have not only proclaimed but taught and preached of the Savior for many years, and then finally came to the conclusion that they had only been deceiving themselves, for all those years they had been living a lie. Marriages, religion, our employment field, all these and more are not always done in truth to ourselves, it is sometimes easier to live the lie, such is the perception of nearly every person on this planet, and for one reason, personal accountability, when and if the truth is espoused, they will be held personally accountable.

When the Lord was being tried that night, He knew the truth, the thing was, those in attendance did also, but they did not want to hear it, loss of position and power, loss of recognition and accolades heaped upon them, loss of face, if you will. Lies always bring about a fall from a higher position, whether it be inferred upon the individual by others, or by ourselves, once the plateau of lies is removed, there is a fall. “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” (Prov. 16:8)

Every lie, every single one of them, whether you are a king or a pauper, is a choice, it requires the mind to debate between at least two choices, and the decision that we make towards the truth or the lie is always left up to us, and thereby we are accountable for the choice we choose. There is truth, and there is the lie, there is no in between, there are no gray areas here, you cannot stand in the truth if you lie, but many attempt to, and in the only place that matters, their faith.

Every religion that does not teach the Word of God as inerrant, infallible, God inspired is teaching a lie, the hierarchy does so to keep the pews as full as possible, those in the assembly believe the lies because it is easier than accepting the truth, lies will remove the burden upon us without any effort on our part. Truth in the world is now relative, and those who are in this world learned long ago that the perception of the truth is all that is necessary for the masses to believe a lie.

Individual lies are even easier, for no one knows about them but us, and feeling good is easier when we do not have to face the truth. “Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.” (Luke 12:3)

Your choice, as always, the Lord has blessed us with free will in this area, so it is your choice, live a life of lies, or live within the light of truth, but you must be aware of this, one day there will be no place for the lies to hide, nothing but the truth will be revealed in you, and to you. It might be wise to contemplate this one truth today.
