Letting Go

Deciding what you want to do for the glory of God is really not an option, but it is the path that many take who have not waited patiently on the Lord, who have not sought His will for His glory.

“Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?” (Romans 9:20)

We do not get to decide what part, what member of the body of Christ we want to be, we pray, we listen, we test the Spirits, and then we answer the call, and if you will ask nearly any man or woman who has been born-again and is profitable to the Kingdom of the Most High, they will tell you basically the same thing.

“I had no idea this is what He was going to call me to do.”

And almost as often you will hear them say that they resisted His will, for they had other plans. Not plans of or for the world, but other ideas on how they wanted to dedicate their lives for His glory.

In my own experience I have met men who have a certificate on their wall that states they have completed all the course work required to hold the title “Pastor,” but they should not be behind the pulpit. Men of God blessed with the ability to retain and recall information at will, excellent teachers, but not counselors of the heart.

Proficient organizers in the matters of church business, but unable to shed a tear behind that podium, to expound upon the Scriptures in such a way that it starts a fire in the heart of those who have been born-again and using the Word of God to convert sinners to repent in tears.

“My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.” (James 3:1)

Every man of God who has been called to be a master, in no matter what area the Almighty has chosen for him, will tell you three things.

First, they never would have thought it possible; second, they are unworthy of the calling, and thirdly, the Lord would be wise to chose someone else for the task.

The few that are chosen my friends and called to be leaders fulfill their obligations, their duties to the fullest of their abilities, and rarely if ever believe they have done a good job. We do not decide on our calling, we obey when we are called.

In a few minutes, my beautiful wife will type up this letter for me, looking up the verses, proofread it, and then place it on the website. Five years ago, this would have never even entered into her mind.

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:3)

Servants serve, they do not question His authority, children obey, because we know He loves us.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (Jer. 29:11)

What you need to consider is this my friends, is the journey worth the destination? Are you willing to submit fully to His will for your life, can you place the goals you have set for yourself, for His glory off to the side if He says, “No, not that. This.”

Many pastors are no more than information gatherers, many counselors should be behind the pulpit, those with organizational skills should be elders instead. Few though, I believe, are willing to give up their dreams of how they want to serve for how He wants them to serve.

The furthest thing from my mind was becoming a writer of letters, it never even entered my mind. But I listened, I prayed, I tested the Spirits, and I write. The Potter makes the clay into what He wants it to be, if we are willing to let go and allow Him to.

And one must be very careful on how we judge the fruit of our actions in the tasks set before us, you can ask Jeremiah about that when you meet him.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” (Jon 10:27)

Being transformed sometimes means letting go.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
