Borrowed Truths

Just Words, Right?

“Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.” (Job 2:9) Job’s wife did not say these words lightly, she was stating a matter of fact, if Job was to curse God, he would die. Perhaps this may or may not have been a common event in that day, but it was known that in some instances people had cursed the name of the living God and fell dead a short time later, or perhaps even immediately, or she would not have said them.

Now, I know in this so-called age of technological enlightenment that these words sound of the makings of a fable, that all that was necessary to die was to dishonor the Most High, but I wonder what those of that day would say if someone told them that people would be walking around speaking and viewing someone in a far distant land on a handheld device. The facts of the account bear the truth out, even Satan said, “But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face,” (Job 1:11) when speaking to the Lord, so indeed, death would occur if one decided to follow this path.

Not exactly a subject for the “Jesus is only love” group is it, those who only want to follow part of the Scriptures, the ones that give them a warm, fuzzy feeling, those who are part of the reason for the falling away.

It does amaze me, and the best I can come up with is that the Lord killed certain individuals not only because of their irreverence, but as an example, curse God and then die is a pretty good way of letting people know you’re still around and in charge.

The third item, which is in direct correlation to those events is when Satan said, “Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.” (Job 2:4) First, Job’s wife, then Satan, then skin for skin, in any chronological order, even without the immediate death of a person, any court in any land would state that these three facts, these three statements, would indicate that by cursing the Lord God, the Lord God would kill that person.

Satan’s plan has not been altered one bit, nothing is new under the sun for him, it matters not if people are plowing the ground by hand one row at a time or if we send people to Mars, get them to curse God, in any way possible. I do not know, none of us do, if there were some particular words that needed to be said in a particular fashion, I contemplate this subject occasionally and many times compare it to Acts 19:19, what was in those books, what words of power were held within their pages, and if you tend to doubt that certain words have certain capabilities to bring about certain circumstances, then I would ask you to contemplate the reason for your prayers.

A man’s life, the entire course of his life can be altered with just a few words, we have the power to lift up and to tear down almost instantaneously, do you believe that evil men have not known this throughout the ages, does not the media of our day prove this fact to you, that words, no matter if they are the truth or a lie, can alter the course of not just a single person, but of the entire race of man, you are watching it happen, hopefully not behind a mask.

That same sharp, two-edged sword that proceeds out of the mouth of our Savior when He returns to rule for a thousand years (Rev. 20:7) is the same sword we are to use properly that is spoken of in Ephesians 6:17. Now, what kind of power do you believe you possess, why do you think Simon wanted to purchase this power, (Acts 8:18) does not the Scriptures say, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” (Rev. 12:11)

The “Jesus is only love, never reprove because it might offend, all judging is judgmental” crowd are not going to like this letter, those who have decided that “God just doesn’t do that anymore,” will attempt to find fault in it. The “technology is our master and there is no God” group will not be phased by these truths, the question then is for the born-again believer, do you truly believe that the Word of God is powerful, and if so, are you wielding it with great care, with understanding that it can change the path of a person’s life, that the words of Scripture that you are employing can mean the difference between pleasures for evermore (Psalm 16:11) and eternal damnation. Skin for skin, eternal life hangs in the balance.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
