“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.” (Matt. 23:27)
They want to be noticed; we want our existence recognized by others. The proper amount of makeup, clothes that reveal much, but not too much, time in the fitness center to ensure they look like a man should, extravagant hair colors or uniforms to show their association to a cause that will recognize them as one of them.
Even in the most subtle of ways, each of us wants recognition that we exist, that we have value, and to attach ourselves to others that are like minded gives us a sense of purpose in this life.
How many are there that profess to serve the Living God so that they can be seen as associated with the “good people?”
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” (2nd Tim. 3:5)
How many believe they are of the family of the Most High because they associate with those who truly are?
“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2nd Tim. 3:13)
And how many are called to search out those who believe so, yet are not, to bring the error of their thinking to them, in love, so that they will repent and truly be saved?
“For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Jude 1:4)
The watchmen on the wall my friends do not just look out over into the darkness to see if the evil is approaching, they turn around at times to ensure that wicked people have not got past them and entered into the congregation, and if they are not diligent in this duty, many may become deceived, and that quite quickly.
“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?” (Gal. 3:1)
Their outward appearance may cause us to hold any questions that may seem rude or too intrusive, those questions may even cause others in the assembly to wonder about you and your motives for asking them certain questions , for not all have been blessed with Spiritual discernment in this area, and if you persist in your attempts to discern the heart of those who would enter into that place that is to be a house of worship, it is you who will be called judgmental.
But if it is not done, that small amount of leaven will eventually leaven the whole lump.
“If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:” (2nd John 2:10)
How would we know and understand when this verse is to be applied if we do not ask questions, if we do not judge with righteous judgment, according to the truths of the Word of God?
Yet the fear of possibly ever offending is of greater importance to many who sit in the pews today, and of many who stand behind the pulpits, and so the man who fears God is removed from the wall, he is seen as too adamant, too judgmental in his inquiries, and when all are welcomed, the world will eventually enter freely into what was once a place of true worship of the Living God.
If you cannot see these truths that have been occurring, then this verse is for you.
“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” (Matt. 15:14)
Many want to be noticed, and they will go to extremes to be seen, yet there are those who profess to serve the Lord Jesus Christ who will do all within their power to never be seen as one who judges, and there is only one truth that stands towards them.
“For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” (John 12:43)
We stand against evil, this world, this earth is not evil my friends, it is under a curse, people are evil, and wicked people who attempt to enter into what is meant to be a house of worship are to be denied entrance there.
“For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.” (Psalm 69:9)
If you have been called to be a watchman on the wall, turn around at times, judge with righteous judgment.
