Itchy Ears

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Prov. 4:7)

Entertainment or wisdom, enticing and alluring to the senses, or profitable. A video with many hundreds of images every minute, subject matter that continuously draws the eye to the screen, interjecting an occasional Scripture verse to validate the topic of discussion. Or simply words on that screen to read?

Perhaps hours spent reading throughout the year, while the viewing time of the average Christian is counted in many months, simply looking at images in that same year.

“Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.” (Matt. 13:13)

I wonder, do most who seek the face of God plant their face in His Word, studying the Scriptures, or do they search the internet for Him, seeking the next visually appealing video of someone speaking, at least in part, about Him?

“Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” (Col. 2:7)

I have noticed a great shift in these internet presenters over the last few years, one that attempts to focus our attention on how wickedly the wicked are behaving, and not on glorifying the Living God, and those that do have seen their viewership grow exponentially. The analogies I have been blessed to see fit these days perfectly, most want the danger of riding the rollercoaster as long as they are sure the danger is only supposed, they want to see what the wicked are doing, as long as it does not affect them personally. They want their ears tickled, scratched for entertainment’s sake, but not for eternal wisdom.

Offer them what they want, and they will remain, speak only of exalting the name of the Most High above the heavens and watch your viewers leave for different entertainment venues.

On YouTube specifically, once one reaches a certain amount of viewers, they are sent a plaque, which can usually be seen in the background of their videos, prominently placed, while these same content creators complain about how they are being censured and demonetized by YouTube.

Keep the viewing public entertained with the evils of the world while attempting not to criticize that world too much, stay within the prescribed boundaries or lose those viewers. But you can keep the plaque.

Reach out to the lost with the truth of the Lord’s offering of grace, mercy and love, keep those who profess Him as Lord coming to your channel by showing them the evils of this world. It is indeed a subtle trap many have fallen into.

I believe these are brothers and sisters in Christ, not false prophets, those who truly love the Lord with all their heart, but they have learned more from the entertainment industry than from the wisdom of God.

These letters, the Borrowed Truths videos and the website have always, and always will only have three objectives, to glorify God, to encourage the brethren, and by the Word of God through the power of the Holy Spirit to convict all that view them. If you are entertained, well and good for you, if you have received wisdom from them, give God the glory.

But do not ever expect me to scratch your ears.

“Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:” (Prov. 1:20)

“But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” (1st Cor. 1:24)

The Lord Jesus Christ is the only message I have to offer.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
