As ridiculous as it may sound, it will happen with toothpaste and laundry detergent, it may not start or finish there, but it will be part of the equation.
Fear has always been the key with Satan, from the first words recorded to our parents, to this very day, fear causes men to act and react differently than any other emotion, even love. “Hath God said,” (Gen. 3:1) created the fear in Adam that he was missing out on something, something that he should have, but was being denied, fear drives people to hoard toilet paper.
The very first sin occurred in heaven itself, something happened that caused Satan to rebel, something that he either disagreed with God about, or felt that he had been disrespected in, fear will cause people to obey almost every single time. Not all of course, some individuals lash out, sometimes violently when they are afraid, others will rush headlong into it, fighting to their last breath, but most will run, and those that run from fear rarely get very far. It started, in a sense, with the toilet paper, it will in time find its way to the toothpaste, running water, food and shelter, a way to provide the needs of your family, fear knows full well how to find the cracks in nearly every person’s armor.
It is always best not to start with the larger things, believe it or not, just the opposite of what most people would think, if you want to see a destroyed marriage, infidelity is not always the best place to start, it is the continuation, without concern for the other party, of the very small insignificant items, for they will grow quickly into a problem, to say the least. In the scenarios that our adversary uses, the small things can be the most effective ways to hinder, and sometimes even cancel out our effectual walk with Christ, but the attack this time has been different, this time, right off the bat, as they say, freedom has been removed, freedom of movement, for many, the freedom to be gainfully employed, the right, as we like to think of it, of free speech, all of the things that most people of the world would say is theirs by birth.
The loss of these so-called “inalienable rights” will cause some to lose hope, others to rebel, sometimes with extreme violence, but in no manner will any of those be acted upon by any until fear is first instilled within them, and that fear must become all-encompassing, it must be pressing upon the recipient of it constantly. Then you can remove the toothpaste, the shampoo, all of those things that most people never give a second thought to, those items that have always been expected, for what we expect, we come to believe we deserve.
Clear, clean running water, heat, electricity, begin slowly to remove these from those who are already in fear, and the masses will do as you say, eventually. They will all be returned to you of course, if you obey, if not, well, that choice, at least for a time, will be given to you, but not forever.
In the days of kings, when spring came, it was time to go to war, and the wise king knew one of the best ways to win a war and lose very few men was to lay siege to those who had what he wanted. Armed men outside of the city gates, waiting, if you came out, you die, if you stay in, you starve. There are men on this planet today who are attempting to bring these days back, and according to the Word of God, they will succeed, ten nations will be left standing, until the king of this world, the prince of the power of the air, destroys even those ten, and the false religious system that will be built up at the same time.
I pray I have helped you to see some of what is coming a little clearer, I hope that you have determined to trust in the Lord to guide you through these days that are coming, we will not see the worst of the wrath of God, we will be busy preparing for the marriage feast, but that does not mean that we will not face some very difficult times in the days ahead. “But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.” (Matt. 24:43)
