Borrowed Truths

IF (Part 2)

“If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.” (1 Cor. 16:22) These two words mean “accursed,” let him be accursed. This verse along with many others informs us that there are, in this regard, only two types of people on this planet, those who love Jesus Christ, and those that do not, the verses are more than clear throughout the Scriptures, “And they said, Believe on the LORD Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31) “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” (Matt. 25:41) Few that find the gate, (Matt. 7:14) few that are chosen, (Matt. 22:14) the path is wide. (Matt. 7:13) Two types of people only.

There are no unanswered questions to the word “if” in this verse, it is set in stone, if any man loves not, they are accursed, and if they continue on this path they will never see the kingdom of God. This is a difficult fact for some believers to accept, that there is now and will be for all eternity an untold number of human beings in hell, people whom we now know and have known that will suffer the wrath of God for all eternity without pause or pity, and for one, single solitary reason, they  would not accept the truth in their heart that Jesus is Lord. They are accursed, and they will remain in that state forever. Is there no hope for them, were they doomed from the start, from the day they were conceived, of course not, our Lord does not desire that any should perish, (2 Peter 3:9) as long as they are breathing there is hope, but after this, the judgement must come. (Heb. 9:27)

“Wherefore, as the Holy Spirit sayeth, today if you will hear His voice.” (Heb. 3:7) The invisible things of God are clearly seen, (Rom. 1:20) but it is not the invisible things that bring a man to repentance, to salvation, that is only accomplished by the will of God and the word of God, the invisible things, along with our witnessing to them, draw a man to the cross of Christ, what he does at the foot of that cross is completely up to him. This is one of the biggest and most important “ifs” in an individual’s life, it will determine where they spend eternity. There is an incredible difference between hearing and accepting, what we listen to we do not always hear. I am in no position to say how many times in a man’s life that the Lord will directly intervene into their life and show them clearly who He is, allowing them to see and hear with clarity, but I do believe that every single human being has been given this opportunity without fail.

The love that our Lord has for us is not based on us in any way, it is completely and totally within Himself, cancelling out all excuses, all works, all personal merits. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23) If they will hear, then they have the opportunity to become sons of God, (John 1:12) but the hearing does not save us, Christ does, and when we accept Him as Lord, God no longer sees us, but His Son in us. (Gal. 4:7) Those who will remain accursed, those who will not hear of their own accord and accept the free gift, have hardened their hearts, (Heb. 4:7) there is and never has been by the Lord an attempt to harden a man’s heart in this area, the wonders He performed in Egypt were accomplished in part because He hardened Pharaoh’s heart, but He did not harden it in a sense that there was never any hope of Pharaoh coming to know Him as Almighty God, the heart is not hardened to damnation, only within the time limit that God has set so that His will and purpose will be achieved.

We must remember that “if ye will hear His voice” does not usually mean that the Lord Jesus is going to show up at their house and have dinner with them, He is more than likely not going to materialize at their front door, but He will send us, and we are to be the messengers of His word, we are to be the ones to attempt to help them to hear His voice. They probably are not going to show up to church of their own accord, and many times not even when they are invited, we must go to them. Don’t envision in your mind here certain false religious organizations that show up to your doorstep occasionally, think instead of those you already know, and from there move on to each and every person that you meet that will listen. You must always remember that they do not yet love Christ and so they are accursed, always recall that the wrath of God is abiding on them (John 3:36) and we, as it were, have been called to stand in the gap between them and the wrath of God, we have been blessed to tell them of His love for them, hopefully they will hear, and not continue to harden their hearts.

The “ifs” are huge my friends, but think on them if they die in their sins, while we relish in the presence and pleasure of the Lord forever more, those who die in their sins will be accursed forever more, they will know no rest from suffering. Who are you expecting to tell them if you do not. If they have hardened their hearts, so be it, their lack of hearing does not rest on your actions to give to them the truths of His love for them, but if you do not try, you will not be held accountable to them for their inaction, but you will be held accountable to God for your inactions. If they do not love the Lord Jesus Christ, they are accursed, if they continue to harden their heart to the moment of their death, they will become vessels fitted for wrath, (Rom. 9:22) that is their choice, you do not have a choice, you are commanded to go, (Mark 16:15) the choice that you make will leave you accountable only to Christ, and He will require an account from each of us.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
