Idol Worshippers

Somewhere in the past, I cannot quite put my finger on the exact moment, the born-again believers in a large part decided to stop standing against evil in the form of religious idolatry. It may have happened during what the Roman Catholic Institution began what it called the crusades, but what the rest of the world knew as the inquisition, a time when millions were killed by them for not adhering to or accepting their doctrines.

Throughout the entirety of the Scriptures God’s people have been commanded to stand against these false teachings, from those of Baal, Dagon, Molech, Ashtoroth, up to when Jesus Himself stood against the Pharisees of His day. Today, for some reason, perhaps it is one of the most telling signs of the apostacy, (1 Tim. 4:1) many lean more toward never offending, no matter how much the name of Jesus is blasphemed.

Nearly every Evangelical church is part of the community’s inter-faith local allegiance, no matter if the Roman Catholic officials, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, no matter who is also part of the organization. This is way past the commandment of not being unequally yoked my friends, (2 Cor. 6:14) this is a direct slap in the face of Almighty God. “For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.” (Deut. 4:24) The Mormons teach that as man is, God once was, as God is, man can become, the Jehovah’s Witnesses say that Jesus and Satan were combatants for the position of Savior and that only 144,000 will be in heaven, the Roman Catholic doctrine states that there is no salvation outside the church of Rome, and that to believe by faith that we are saved by grace is a sin, the “Sin of Presumption.”

There are thousands of religious organizations around the planet that deny the Sovereignty of the Lord Jesus, some do not even recognize Him, much less call Him Savior, but the question is, are you speaking in love to those individuals when they are placed in your path, or are you one who is afraid of offending. You may call it that if you so desire, you can call it live and let live, minding your own business, you can even call it the right to religious freedom if you want, but that is not what the Word of God says of those who will not speak the truth in love to those are trapped and blinded by these idol worshippers. “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17) John even says that we are to have absolutely no contact with them, (2 John 2:10) we are to treat them as gentiles, (Matt. 18:17) very harsh words in his day, words that landed men like Paul in prison more than once.

For some reason the love of many is growing cold, we have lost the commitment to stand for the Lord in this area, many have decided to become unequally yoked. I am not suggesting an all-out affront to any religious system, but what I am saying is that every single person that crosses your path is a person that, if they do not know Christ as Lord, needs to hear the plan of salvation from you, the love that is offered to them, the blood that was shed for them, and this my friends means everyone, no matter which idol they serve.

If you have a person in mind right now that is trapped in one of these organizations, study on that church’s precepts, not the intricate details of course, but at least how they believe a man can be  saved, who God is, who Jesus and the Holy Spirit are, the security of the salvation that is offered by Christ, their teachings on justification, sanctification, and glorification. Learn what is necessary and then in love, confront them with the truth. Love demands action, not the fear of offending, those who fear to offend will find themselves ashamed at His coming. (1 John 2:28)
