We as a church get together every Sunday morning. I as an individual come to the house of the Lord to worship the Most High. We as a people are straying from the precepts of God, I as an individual have determined in my mind to stand on the Rock that is the Lord my God.
God does not start revivals in churches, it has happened, but it is extremely rare, He starts a revival in the heart of a single individual, and if you are that individual, then you already know that the change He has placed in you is not going to spill over to anyone else, save for perhaps a very few. Revival is not really the right word, to a degree, the best correlation would be what happens to that man is the same thing that happened to the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32, “when he came to himself,” he awoke from his sinful lust and determined to return to his first love, the same as we are told of the church of Ephesus in Rev. 2:4.
It is not a renewing of the mind that happened the moment the Holy Spirit entered into the born-again believer, it is the coming to ones senses of not where they should return to, but to where they never should have left. This world is proficient at making “me into them” into turning “I into us,” the school systems have taught against individualism for decades, the entire structure of the world stands against the individual, the one that “goes against the grain,” the person that “does not fit the mold,” and this is so ingrained in so many that it is not even recognized as a deterrent to personal growth anymore.
Case in point, the masks they now desire us to wear, attempting to wipe out yet another form of individualism, taking away from people their identity and modifying them yet again to fit into the mold of “us.” I am quite sure that the makers and users of facial recognition software systems are doing quite a bit of pondering of what their next step should be, but not so our adversary, Satan has been planning to make all of the human race into one single identity for a very long time.
Individuals contemplate, they debate within their minds the proper course of action in any given circumstance, but by enabling the majority of civilization, which is coming I assure you, he will attempt to take away any conscience capability for debate or deductive reasoning skills within the individual. You see some of these people that are rebelling against this ideology on the newsfeeds each day, they are called protesters, and you will also see those who have been sent to keep the masses in line, they are called law enforcement officers. The question of course will arise soon, when will a large part of those who have been sent to quell the masses begin to think individually, and act upon those thoughts, seeing the protesters more correct in their combined individualized thoughts than those who have sent them to stay the protest.
The born-again believer is in a sense in a quandary here, we have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, family, friends, church, all are secondary to our obedience to the Lord, we are personally accountable to Him (Romans 14:12) not accountable to whatever group or organization, church or pastor that we associate with, for the man who has been called back, the man who has come to his senses, the call is to leave everything and serve fervently, no matter the circumstances, no matter the cost. Evil must be spoken against, not run from, there is no choice, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Phil. 1:21) are no longer words just read, the church is no longer a requirement or a place to go and just fellowship, no offense intended, anymore, it is an opportunity to worship the Almighty for the man who has been called out of the fold, to walk alone with the Lord Jesus.
There is no more “us” or “they” in this person, there is only “me,” and me means Christ. (Gal. 2:20) Every action, every deed, every thought he knows he is accountable for, no one to blame but himself, no one to glory in but Christ. He becomes, in the finest sense of the word, an individual whose only goal is to glorify God.
There is a stipulation in the Scriptures that many who call Christ Lord these days seem to be not adhering to “that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day,” (Eph. 6:13) to stand against the onslaught of evil that is approaching fast is an individualized effort, it is the very rare church group that will do so as a whole, many have let themselves fall into the trap of never offending. But there is always the hope that the individual who has cried out to God to renew him to a right relationship will be copied by others, that others will see the folly of fear and begin to serve Christ without fear of the repercussions of the world. “For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matt. 22:14)
If you are chosen, then you are called to serve, not only alongside other believers, but alone, apart from the crowd, with Christ as your only focus, the glory of God in the highest as your only goal, no matter the cost to yourself in this life.
