If you do not believe that the Lord Jesus Christ loves you no matter what, then you do not know the love of Christ.
If you believe that you can do almost anything that you want to do, then you do not know the love of Christ.
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2nd Cor. 13:5)
They are called hypocrites, believing within themselves that life is theirs to do with as they please, that they can live lives of sinful pleasures, and the mercies of the Almighty will cover each and everyone of those sins. They have a form of godliness, but inside are dead men’s bones, they are one small step away from becoming, if they are not already, reprobates.
Most people who have a rudimentary knowledge of the Almighty think this way, for although they recognize that there is wrath in the Most High, it will not fall upon them, for in their mind they believe His overriding attribute is love, and love always forgives, no matter what.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)
The Roman Catholic cult has become quite efficient at this deceptive lie, it is one of their main foundations, but many who sit in the pews of every sort of what I will loosely call a church will believe it as well. After all, does He not remember that we are but dust, that we cannot do the things that we would do? Is not He longsuffering and full of mercy and compassion?
Because they believe that He still winks at these sins, that He wants us to be happy, to enjoy the offerings of this world, all things are still available to them.
I heard a woman yesterday, who when looking out her window from a high place and seeing the fog covering the city mentioned that it looked like heaven. But after she said how she could not wait to get there, she said, “Not yet though Lord, I have a lot of life I want to live yet.”
“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” (Matt. 15:8)
The next step after a hypocrite is one whom the Almighty has given over to a reprobate mind, and from there all hope of heaven is gone.
We who have been born again are indeed loved with an everlasting love, but if you believe that means you can do anything you want to do, think again. Peter went out and wept bitterly when he learned this truth, Judas Iscariot hung himself when he realized it. We must, in a sense, put a leash upon ourselves, we must understand that open rebellion against Him whom we honestly love and serve will have personal repercussions. David, in his sin with Bathsheba, was taught this lesson as well.
“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” (1st Cor. 6:12)
When we who are hid in Christ hinder our flesh, our old nature, and do so not because of any fear of the Lord’s punishments upon us, but solely because of our love for Him who first loved us, then you can count this verse as a truth in your life.
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;” (John 8:31)
Many of the people you meet believe that the love of the Most High is given without conditions, that their lives can be lived in any manner that they choose, and because God is love, they will continue to be loved. If you honestly have been born again, you know better.
A life of obedience, in service to the Lord Jesus Christ, denying ourselves for His glory.
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2nd Tim. 2:19)
