Humility, I believe that the majority of mankind has lost the ability to be humble, and I believe that it is because they have forgotten that God is Holy.
We as a people have become filled with pride, the opposite of humility in the face of an Almighty God, and I believe that it is, in my opinion, one of the reasons that in our human time frame that the age of grace has gone on so long, it tests those that adhere to Romans 1:17, “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
Faith in Jesus Christ, real trusting, abiding faith, does not need to see miracles, it does not need signs, dreams or visions, its ability to live in that faith is not swayed by circumstances, it does not cry out for the rapture to happen every day, nor does it care if it goes through trials and tribulations. It is humble in its knowledge that the Lord God reigns on high, (Rev. 19:6) that everything that happens to us is for good, (Romans 8:28) that 2 Timothy 1:12 is true, “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”
Anything else in any of these areas is less than humility, less than retaining and believing continuously that the Lord God is Sovereign, it is the truth of Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
True humility gives all that we are, everything, into the hands of the Almighty in complete trust, and in return we receive joy, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” (John 15:11) And the promises of Isaiah 26:3, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Iniquity was found in Satan, (Eze. 28:15) in the form of pride, and pride is the downfall of our society today. Ruthless men, full of pride and self-appreciation are ruling this planet today, fear is their tool, and that pride needs to be fed every single day. If those in charge will not love their neighbor as themselves, they will only love themselves, all others will be, as long as they are in charge, forced to obey, in one form or another. But there is only one who sits on the throne of this world today, Satan is the god of this world, (2 Cor. 4:4) and those who are presiding over us at this time, if they do not already know it, will humble themselves at his feet.
I do not believe it is possible to understand and live a life of humility unless one truly understands and believes completely that the Lord God is Sovereign. Once that knowledge, that truth is imparted to us, once we never question it as truth in our lives ever again, humility is the only response. Everyone in hell is well aware of this fact, every one of us who proclaims Jesus Christ as Lord should recognize it as absolute truth today.
Mankind in our day has become the Canaanites, the Babylonians, those of the land of Sodom and Gomorrah, those who Noah preached to, all rolled into one. We are due for judgment, and judgment is coming. There is an unspeakable peace that comes with the humility that in His own way God honors in a man, it is a peace that passes all understanding. (Phil. 4:7) Long term fear flees from us, even the shadow of death holds no sway over us, its sting is gone. (1 Cor. 15:55) All because of the mercy and grace of the Lord blessing us with the knowledge of the truth that He is Holy, Righteous, and Sovereign.
