Home Sweet Home

What is waiting for those of us who have entrusted our lives and our eternal souls to Jesus Christ is unfathomable, it is far beyond the finite human minds ability to comprehend. Most will bring up the fact that one day every tear will be wiped away, that pain will be a distant memory, never to be experienced again, our thoughts about our eternal home are most generally focused upon ourselves, rarely do you hear another speak of how glorious it will be to be in the presence of the Lamb of God. I think it is one of the reasons that Psalm 16:11 is so precious to us who have memorized it, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

To know without question that those who seek His face daily and diligently will be shown the paths of life, that all fullness resides in His presence, and that pleasures forever more without end are waiting for those who serve Him as Lord. That is what heaven is, it is not some daydream of being able to do what you want to do when you want to do it, it is not about eating all the chocolate cake you want, or even about getting to see and be with loved ones who have gone on before us, it is being able to be in the presence of Jesus Christ.

If not being in His will continually here in this life, if not concerning yourself with the kingdom of God and being a willing servant here, why so much more there? Far too many like to blame this lack of desire to be obedient here on their sinful nature, and while it is true that we face no greater enemy in this life than ourselves, it is not that part of us that should receive all the blame, we all know this as truth. That nature against God that resides within each of us is not our master any longer, “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” (Romans 6:6) We like to think perhaps about an eternity of visiting other planets, of walking on the bottom of the ocean, of flying and walking through walls or simply appearing in a certain place as our Lord did, and well we may and much more, these are pleasures forever more, but the greatest thing all of God’s children should ever envision, the very first thought in their mind should be the ability, the privilege and honor to be in the presence of God Almighty.

I know of some who have gone before me to glory, but unless I see Christ first, I plan to walk right past each and every one of them without even a glance, for it is my Savior I desire to be in the presence of. I want this old man (Eph. 4:22) inside of me taken out and killed, I want to spend much time in His presence, because even in heaven, that is the only place that I will experience the fulness of joy. Jesus Christ is the prize we are all seeking, everything else is secondary, nothing can then or should now take precedence over Him.

Holy is the only word that can be attributed to our heavenly home, no sin will be found there, not one thought will stand before us and our Creator, we will be known as we are known. (1 Cor. 13:12) This begs the question then, who are you in the eyes of God, right now, at this very moment. Are you truly willing and obedient, or is your heart filled with good intentions, are you a church attendee or a worshipper, does your life reflect the attitude and attributes of Christ, or do you withhold part of the truths of the Scripture for fear of offending, are you seen as contentious and adamant by those you speak with, or easy to get along with, never pushing Christ on anyone.

Heaven is reserved for born-again believers, those who profess Him only with their lips and spend the rest of the week in the world will find it not their home, a perfect church attendance record or even casting out demons will in no way grant you entrance. We are to be crucified with Christ, (Gal. 2:20) we are to die to self, little else shows our true faith in Him than those two attributes.

It sounds like a very wonderful place, to put it mildly, I certainly hope that you are resting assured that you will indeed reside there throughout eternity, and that the One who died for you is your main reason for wanting to be there.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
