There are attributes of our Lord that few Christians I meet are willing to discuss, or even contemplate within themselves, they have been trapped by the ever prevalent notion that Christ is nothing but love, care, compassion, and concern, that His wrath and vengeance long ago passed into history, and is not an attribute of His character any longer. Fear of the Lord has been replaced with fear of the loss of life, masks and vaccines, governments and health associations are now our savior, and we no longer seek the face of God until the trials and tribulations begin to affect us directly, until it is our life on the line, and even then it is a rare thing.
Many individuals cannot comprehend why the Lord would either send or allow the massive worldwide plagues, pestilences, floods, earthquakes, and all other manner of sorrows to ravage mankind today, they refuse to see or accept sin on a global level as due righteous judgment from a Holy God, because many years ago they were taught by, they were led to believe the lie that God is only love, and that nothing matters more than our own accountability towards Him. They see our Lord as one who only pleads with the children of man, who desires nothing more than for them to just get along with each other and love everybody no matter what, and when we do not, then He just keeps on hoping that we will someday, at the worst sending bad feelings within each person to maybe convict them a little more. And as we as a race continue to become more violent, as sin begins to permeate nearly every corner of His creation, well, that’s just the way it goes, we’ll try harder tomorrow.
These individuals have misled themselves into believing that the Almighty is only love, never righteous indignation with severe penalties for sin. These people do not believe that the Lord still judges entire nations, but only those little sins that pass through our minds occasionally, and even those are swept under the rug, because He loves us so much. The blatant evil that is sweeping across the globe is seen by them as only some misunderstood individuals who just need a helping hand, the massive damage of the planet is because of climate change, and if we all just pull together and love each other, soon we will all be going on picnics and singing happy songs together again. It is an interesting god these individuals have made up, one who loves no matter what, one who never punishes iniquity, who allows his created souls to do as they wish and will then welcome them into eternal bliss, too bad he doesn’t exist outside of their minds.
“Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.” (Prov. 1:24-30)
There is the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, He is going to laugh and mock at these individual’s pain and suffering when it comes, He killed 50,070 people (1 Sam. 6:19) who looked into the ark when He told them not to, He is going to kill hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions when we return with Him, He is going to allow to die and even kill Himself by His mighty hand hundreds of millions of people during the great tribulation. He regards not the person of any man, (Romans 2:11) He listens to the council of none, (Romans 11:34) and He punishes evil with death. There is always collateral damage, the rain falls on the just and the unjust, (Matt. 5:45) He is a righteous Holy God who punishes evil, who kills and makes alive, (Deut. 32:39) He is jealous, (Exo. 34:14) vengeful and filled with indignation against His creation that will not submit to His will, who will only bow the knee when they feel like it or when they want something from Him, and He is going to punish mankind because of these things.
His warnings are clear, nothing has changed, for He does not change, “Repent” comes in many forms, not in this ridiculous notion that God is only love. The beginnings of sorrows have begun, (Matt. 24:8) if you think that you will not be caught up in them you are sadly mistaken, “There shall no evil befall thee,” (Psalm 91:10) does not mean that you will be enclosed in some kind of “God bubble” of protection when the hand of the Lord reaches your area of the planet. It means you are to trust and obey, it means that you should have been preparing for these days long ago, dying to self more each day, loving your life less each day, preparing to meet the Lord each day no matter in what way He calls you home. “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.” (John 12:25)
Whether you like to believe it or not, “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin,” (Isaiah 53:10) “I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;” (Prov. 1:26) “for He maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” (Matt. 5:45) You don’t judge God, He judges you, your responsibility is to trust and obey. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.” (Isaiah 55:8)
