Guilt And Shame

One of the easiest ways to destroy a person is to give them what they want with no guilt or shame for receiving it, no matter what “it” is. It works for individuals, people, or nations, when no guilt or shame is included in the receiving, then there are no internal consequences.

“And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Gen. 4:9)

No guilt, no shame, only concern for the consequences placed upon him by the Almighty.

Guilt my friends, specifically feeling guilty for any action performed by us, is a choice, if you can understand this, that the knowledge of sin does not always bring with it guilty feelings, and if the emotion of guilt is not present, then there is no shame felt within us.

Adam could have stood there naked still in front of the Most High, and when asked if he had eaten of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, said, “Yes, I did, so what?”

An enabled, and even assisted consumer nation, is produced on purpose by wickedness in positions of authority over that nation so that guilt and shame in receiving that which has not been earned by those in that nation will not feel guilt or shame for doing so. It is how slaves, willing slaves, are created.

“Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. (2nd Sam. 13:15a)

If you can understand this as well, you will understand how Satan twists the truths of the Word of God in ways few have gained knowledge in, if you can break a man of his pride, you can cause him to lose all guilt and shame for his actions, and lust must be the key used to unlock that person. Amnon did not love Tamar, he lusted after her, he felt no guilt or shame in his actions, and did what most do, blamed her.

Guilt my friends is easily transferred to others, we do it all the time. And if caught, even if the truth is revealed to the guilty party, repentance only comes because of forced attrition, yet it is not true repentance.

All that has been written here so far is for this singular point, feeling sorry for your sins is not repentance, feeling guilty, even shameful, is not repenting in dust and ashes.

But then how else are we to react to sins committed willingly against our Father in heaven, if not our emotional state, then what is the proof of repentance?

Do not do that again, ever.

The internal emotions of guilt and shame are a byproduct placed within us by the Most High, it is one of the ways the Holy Spirit attempts to convict us of our sins. Adam reacted immediately to that guilt; Cain knew it not. And if he did, he was able to quench it within him. Most people can. All you have to do is not care, and if guilt begins to rise up within you, simply shift the blame to another.

And that has become quite easy for most people over the last two thousand years or so, because of this verse, even for those who have never heard it.

“And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2nd Peter 3:4)

“But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.” (Numb. 32:23)

Most will only realize that truth a few moments after they die and open their eyes in hell.

Guilt and shame when we sin are one of the ways, perhaps the most prolific way, that the Holy Spirit teaches those who are hid in Christ their need for repentance, and that should cause us to say with David,

“Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.” (Psalm 51:4)

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
