God Owes You Nothing

God does not owe you anything, He is not indebted to you in any way, shape or form, anything and everything that you receive from Him is solely because of His mercy.

“For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.” (Job 9:32)

I would ask you to contemplate the following verse in accordance to those initial truths written above, and ask yourself if you do so, then is God indebted to you to perform what you have asked for.

“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Matt. 21:22)

That question I just asked you in regard to the verse offered borders perilously close to expecting, so to say, the wish that you told the genie you wanted, for now that you have asked, and believed you will receive what you asked for, the Almighty must keep His part of the bargain, so to speak. He is now indebted to perform for you.

No, He is not.

This is a very fine line I am attempting to ride here my friends, I realize that, but many times I look at the inverse of a thing, for if the inverse is true, the original must be true as well. If we do not believe, we will not receive, if we do believe, we will. Therefore, in the minds of many, the Most High is obligated to give us what we have requested, He is indebted to us to do so.

No, I repeat, He is not.

“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” (Lam. 3:22)

God owes us nothing, He is not obligated in any way to do anything for us. We owe Him everything. Saved, lost or wicked, everything we have is only because of His mercy.

It will help you to understand the truths written here if you can accept this truth. There is no such thing as reality without the Almighty first creating it.

“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” (Psalm 90:2)

He who creates owes nothing to His creation, He does as He pleases, and always for His pleasure.

The reason I said, “that fine line” is because very few people will accept the truths written here, pride will not allow it, the lack of the knowledge of His everlasting love for us keeps them from admitting to themselves that all we have, all we are in Christ, all we ever will be is only because of His mercy toward us.

The errant child receives little, the humble servant receives much, the unrepentant wicked receive none. That is how we like to think, but that would not be totally correct, for that statement can only have its foundation in works.

Breathing, eating, existing only by His mercies.

“O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” (Psalm 136:1)

Would it not be more merciful to simply extinguish the existence of those who will be in the Lake of Fire forever?

Never forget, for these two go hand in hand, His mercies for His pleasure.

“Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?” (Romans 9:21)

The Living God owes none of us anything, He is not now, never has been and never will be indebted to anyone for anything. We receive His mercies because of His love, His mercies end with the last breath of the unrepentant soul. For those He has chosen for Himself, they will never end.

We owe Him everything.

Mercy is not giving someone what they deserve, and for those that serve Him in love, there will be no end to His mercies.
