“For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” (Malachi 3:6)
How would you react if someone said to you, “I am not going to kill you because I love you.”
The love of God that abounds in the hearts of those who have been born-again is not the love of God that the world is professing today, it is not what any religious organization teaches, and few in the Evangelical community can even describe it properly. It is in most minds at best a grandfatherly form of love, one that understands that small children make mistakes, that for the most part they can never act in a manner that would cause His love to be denied them, and that sooner or later the young ones will grow out of it and become fine upstanding men and women.
It is not obedience to the will of God that is required for us to be showered with His love they are taught; it is simply being the best person you can be.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
John 14:15 is more of a suggestion today, and the form it inhabits is not a strict adherence to the laws of Christ, but more of a generalization of them, it is not being born-again, it is simply a slight modification of who we are. With these, they do not need to die to self, at least not all of their self, they do not need to have their minds and hearts transformed, they just need to love Him, and the proof will be in the pudding.
They are now not completely tied to the world, just loosely associated with it. They are now polite, non-judgmental and loving to those they meet, at least to their face. A Christian in present company and when things are going well.
They are deceived and cannot see that the form of godliness they exhibit to others is only a deception of their heart, they still love their lives, they still desire at least a modicum of the world, there is still the fear of death in them, but there is no true faith to stand upon within them.
The love they profess for the Lord is based upon the security of the moment, it is not an everlasting love that can say with Job, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him:” (Job 13:15a)
They were taught this by those behind the pulpit, that God is love and if we love everyone, then we are of God. They have been deceived and have believed the deception that love conquers all, that love never corrects or reproves, that love is more important than faith. That obedience is not necessary if you love your neighbor.
“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” (1st Sam. 15:22)
And, as it is said, to add insult to injury, in these days of approaching darkness, if you do not love, then you will be labeled a hater, and judged by the world appropriately.
Performing actions of love because we are commanded to is not love, following the religious narrative of “God is love” is not the love of God. Love performs actions of love because of faith.
“We love him, because he first loved us.” (1st John 4:19)
This deception will grow exponentially in the coming days, more and more laws will be enacted in an attempt to force people to love their neighbor, no matter that neighbor’s chosen lifestyle, and many who profess to serve the Living God will see no fault in expressing that which they have been deceived into believing. That God is love, and if we do not love everyone as they are, then we are not of God.
I ask this question of you if you are one who has fallen into this trap, how were you planning on standing against the evil of these days if you profess to love everyone?
Obedience in faith requires an answer from you.
