If you ask most people that have small children why they are here, what purpose do they serve by their continued existence, you would expect to hear, “For my children.” Find them in fifteen or twenty years and ask them the same question, when their children no longer need them.
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” (Gal. 3:26)
Most people do not know why they are here, they can give no real reason for their continued existence, nothing outside of the boundaries of their personal wants. The food, clothing and shelter they seek for are only needs for that continuation of life, all else they cannot expound upon, cannot give a reason for. “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matt. 4:4)
They really have nothing to live for but the next want, the fulfillment of the next desire. They add to this in their mind that they are needed by someone, but that is a fallacy, rarely will anyone they know die if they are not there.
Man’s search for a reason to live is nearly always hinged on nothing less than the fear of death, and that my friends is not living, that is a life preparing for the inevitable, and living in constant fear of its approach. Materialistic items, needs and wants fulfilled, desires and goals set and then hopefully met, that is the entirety of most people’s lives, and they will die with at least one of them unmet.
Every letter I am led to write and every video that I am led to make has three main focal points, that God would be glorified, that the people of God would be encouraged, and that by the Scripture verses offered the Holy Spirit would convict those who read and watch them for the reason of the first one, that God would be glorified in their lives. It is a perfect circle, but it is not one I planned, it is God that did so, and He has used me in this small way to set it in motion.
That is to be the meaning, the entirety of our lives, glorifying God, encouraging the brethren and speaking the Scriptures to others for the glory of God so they may also be convicted.
The lost we seek continuously, for we do not know if they are our brothers and sisters in Christ. We have a purpose, one that will last until your dying breath, and it is the only eternal purpose on this planet. “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.” (Prov. 8:17) But not all of Him, so we seek for more continuously, to know Christ and Him crucified, to have the mind of Christ, to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord, to be shown each day His truths to a greater degree, to be holy.
Those of the world seek the things of the world, and always for their own benefit, even when they have spent their lives in the service of others, their need to feel wanted has been met. They do not realize they are not as needed as they think they are, but it is all they have.
You need to know this truth, the Almighty does not need you, He never has. “Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.” (1 Kings 19:18) In whatever way He has determined to call you is the way that you are to find fulfillment in Him, the measure of faith that you have been given is all the faith you will ever need.
All our wants can only be found in Him, we can only be content in Him, we can find no rest for our souls outside of Him. Let those of the world continue to seek for the fulfillment of their lives in the world, let them continue to seek for that which they know deep inside of themselves they will someday lose.
You follow Christ.
