Final Preperations

“And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,” (Luke 9:51)

What would you need to occur in your life to prepare you for death?

I am going to presume that is not a question anyone has ever asked you before, and possibly one you have never asked anyone that you have met. A moment all of us will need to meet, save for those who will be raptured, a moment few care to contemplate and even fewer care to discuss.

Those people that day saw that our Savior’s countenance had changed, He had set His face like a flint, there was only one singular thought on His mind, time to die.

Every person ever born, including those that will be raptured, at least in the second part of the following verse will fulfill that verse. Only our Savior had no relationship to that second part, but for everyone who has ever lived, He faced the first part.

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Heb. 9:27)

But what I have just written is not entirely true, is it? He faced the judgment of Almighty God for all men, yet He was innocent.

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2nd Cor. 5:21)

There is a point in the Scriptures, that at the moment I cannot recall, where the Lord Jesus Christ started speaking to those around Him about His death. There may be some certain instances where we might know the hour, even down to the minute of our death, those on death row, some who have been imprisoned for the glory of the Most High, but most of us have no idea when that day will arrive, and so, how are we to prepare for it?

The world my friends will give you no answer, like I mentioned, most of them, including sadly many that you will meet who profess to serve the Lamb of God, will not even hold an in-depth conversation about the topic. But the Word of God speaks specifically about it.

“So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:12)

Have you been preparing for that moment, the last breath here, the first meeting with your Savior. Any ideas about what you want to say?

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” (1st Peter 3:15)

He will ask you, in fact, the Lord Jesus Christ will be the last one that you will ever speak to that will ask you for the reason for your faith. Ready to answer Him?

“Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.” (Amos 4:12)

That verse may have been specific to those the Living God was speaking to at that moment, but it should instill within us thoughts of preparing to meet Him as well.

What the unrepentant of this world fear above all things in this life is the one moment in time that we who are born again look forward to in great anticipation. And so, with all that said, are you preparing for it?

Yes, if you are indeed the righteousness of God in Christ you will walk through one of those gates of pearl, you will walk on streets of gold, you will know pleasures forevermore. But not until you give your account of how and why you lived your life here.

No rewards until then, no visiting with those you love who have gone onto glory before you, not until your accounting is over.

Prepare for that today, because unless you know the exact moment of your death, waiting to prepare to do so may be too late.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
