One of the books in my possession is about a man simply known by the name of Brother Lawrence, a large man who was lame in his feet and spent the majority of his life in a monastery.
Twice a day he was instructed to retreat into his room and have a private time of prayer, which he did, but he could never completely understand why, for he was nearly constantly in prayer and communion with the Lord throughout the entirety of his day.
“Pray without ceasing.” (1st Thess. 5:17)
I watch at times different content creators on social media who many times start their videos with words similar to this. “I felt led to bring this to your attention,” or “I believe the Lord wanted me to make this content.”
I don’t always shy away, so to speak, from those videos, but many times I do, and usually for this reason. If the Holy Spirit has “laid something on your heart,” why would you think that someone else would need that information as well? If it’s in your heart, maybe it’s for you.
I am not saying that it’s every time of course, but in my mind it’s just one small step away from someone saying something like, “The Lord revealed this to me!” And the majority of those times what has been supposedly “revealed” to them requires a certain unspecified passage of time to elapse before the “prophetic” message can be tested.
“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” (Matt. 24:11)
If there is one verse that stands out amongst many in these days my friends, it is this one.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” (1st John 4:1)
Very few, judging at least from not only the content of certain videos offered, but the responses in the comment section, seem to be Spiritually discerning in these days. If those content creators are not offering some “special message,” supposedly from the Lord, then they are speaking of some “feeling” they have had, or are intentionally, or perhaps in some cases, unintentionally scratching people’s itchy ears, either with the so-called important newsworthy event of the day, or with something concerning the end times mentioned in the Scriptures.
At the very least, many of them will say they “felt led to,” or will spend their time attempting to draw people to their videos by the title of them.
I have intentionally proven these truths on the Borrowed Truths YouTube channel. “The Tribulation” video received thousands of views. Those that have the word “Rapture” somewhere in the title garner almost as many. The words, grace, love, faith, obedience and the like in the title, maybe fifty views at best.
Because whether it is with the videos or in these letters, I do not, nor can I say that I believe I have ever “felt led” to make any of them. I already know what I am supposed to do, whether I feel led to or not.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)
You will probably start seeing quite a lot more offerings online from people saying they felt led by the Lord to say what they are “supposed” to say. Test the spirits, and if you place things online, test yourself first to see if you should or not.
