Fear Or Love?

“He’s not my responsibility, since when am I supposed to keep an eye on him all the time, you’re God, you know everything, so why ask me?”

“And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Gen. 4:9)

Apparently, no remorse, no regrets, not that big of a deal, leave me alone. Until Genesis 4:13.

“And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.”

“Oh, now it matters, does it Cain? Now that you have to pay for the consequences for your actions? Now that your sin has been found out and there’s a price to pay?”

“Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?” (Isaiah 29:15)

For over two thousand years, in relation to those opening words to this short letter to you, the Almighty has been silent, evil men are basically allowed to do what they want to do, and when those in authority also have evil, selfish intents, the righteous mourn. If you look back over the history of those last two thousand years you will see the truth of these words, and if you will only glance at the world today, you will see the truth of this world and the path the Most High is directing it upon.

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2nd Tim. 3:13)

Mankind has never lived in complete harmony, not in the past, not today, and not until the thousand-year reign of the Lord Jesus Christ on this earth has come to a close, and even then Revelation 22:15 must be contemplated.

“For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”

We as a species do not like each other very well, we never have, and so I would ask you to contemplate this truth as well, love has not cured this problem.

It does not matter how much you love some of your neighbors, if they can, they will attempt to assert some form of power over you. It is not in our nature to love one another. It is in our nature to do what we want to do, and the only thing that stops us is the fear of possible consequences upon us if we get caught.

That is the only true battle the unrepentant fight, whether it be against man or their idea of who God is, if there are no consequences for their actions, there is no need to hinder the desires they hold within themselves.

And the Almighty has allowed mankind to be such since Cain.

How many of the desires you hold do you not perform because of the possibility of punishment from the Lord, and how many do you hinder within yourself because of your love for Him?

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)

Obedience is the action of love, but I ask this question of you. Is disobedience to His will for you an act outside of love?

If you can understand this, is willfully sinning against the Almighty more than just sin, is it an action that says, “I do not love you enough to obey you in this?”

How do you live your life my friends, in constant fear that, since the Lord is watching you all the time, that you had better behave, or in a continuous battle against your old nature, solely for the reason that any sin would be disrespectful to your Father in heaven?

Even when the Lord Jesus Christ is sitting on His throne during the Millennial Period, people will willfully sin, and they will think as mankind has always thought. “As long as I don’t get caught, what does it matter?”

“But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.” (Numb. 32:23)

Fear or love, which shall it be then?
