“And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2 Peter 3:4) Things are not going to get better, what is happening today was foretold ages ago by our Lord in His Word, His hand is moving mightily across this planet, our sins have reached unto heaven, the falling away is at hand.
There is no great revival before the terrible day of the Lord, there is nothing in the Scriptures that speaks of a fallen world turning its face toward God and speaking words of heartfelt repentance before His return. The leaves on the tree are turning green, (Matt. 24:32-33) great signs upon this earth are being shown to those who will but see, and for each one the lost will continue to give a scientific explanation, but their wisdom will be shown to be the foolishness that it truly is. (1 Cor. 3:19) For the believer in Christ, these approaching days will bring much turmoil, they will watch, they will warn, but few will listen, such as it always has been with those the Lord has commanded to stand on the wall, their words, the words He has sent them to proclaim, will mostly go unheard.
The apostacy, this great falling away, (2 Thess.2:3) has nothing in the spiritual realm to do with the lost, it speaks of those who proclaim Christ as Lord, but have not been found to be faithful, those servants who have shown themselves to be unprofitable. The world is proclaiming that things will get better, that the tide will turn and we will all be watching sporting events on the television again, that vacation areas will reopen, that every lost job will reappear, for this is their duty, to provide hope, whether it is true or not, their views do not align with the Word of God, and we must not expect them to.
There are no prophecies left to occur before the rapture (Matt. 24:44) and the entering in of the great and terrible day of the Lord, these days will appear just as it was in the days of Noah, (Matt. 24:37) but it is the spiritually blind believer who will not search out and see the signs that the day is fast approaching, it is the believer in Christ who has his feet more firmly planted on this earth than in heaven that will not look at the truths around us and see them for what they are. Doomsday prophets, conspiracy theorist, event watchers is what they will call you if you speak these truths, and as it always has been, those who speak these truths must be silenced.
What is arriving is going to cost some of those who know Jesus Christ as Lord much, it may cost them much more than the loss of position and stature they now hold, it will put to the test their faith, and it may cost them their lives. Herein is the truth of the Scriptures, who will stand and who will be found to be unprofitable, who will receive rewards and who will be saved, yet only by fire. (1 Cor. 3:15) The time is approaching, and now is upon many places on this planet, where the personal relationship that you have with Jesus will become just that, extremely personal, your faith, your dedication will be put to the test, you will be shown truly who you are in Christ.
I cannot speak for all, but the signs worldwide are sure and clear, and those who will not look upon them for what they are will not be relinquished from the duties that they have been commanded to do, they will be given, and now are, an opportunity to not be ashamed at His coming, (1 John 2:28) to stand in the day of adversity, (Prov. 24:10) to rejoice in trials and tribulations, (Romans 5:3) but many will not, for the great falling away is upon us.
Perhaps these cataclysmic events will change the hearts of many, perhaps they will see that their lives have not truly been lived to the glory of God, that they have been living more for the world and the rewards and false hopes it offers, perhaps they will come to the understanding that they have not been as they once thought, but this is not likely, it is why it is called the great falling away. “The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.” (Psalm 11:5)
