Faith By Hearing

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

The main reason that mankind has been blessed with the Word of God is because He wants us to know who He is, it is not so that He can understand us, there is nothing about anyone or anything that He does not have complete and full understanding of.

Our response to the Scriptures does not change the validity of them, none of the truths contained within His words to us are altered in any fashion by our responses to them.

“He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living:” (Mark 12:27a)

Everyone in heaven as well as all those who are in hell realize and acknowledge who the Almighty is, all their doubts are removed from them, we who yet breath the air of this earth are the ones that still have the opportunity to either accept or reject His revealing of Himself to us, and sadly most will do the latter.

“And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” (John 5:40)

My own father said that he had read through the Bible four times in his life, and yet as far as I am aware he still died in his sins. So, I place this truth before you in reference to Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

But apparently not for everyone.

We will add this verse in connection with the subject at hand.

“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:44)

But at the same time, this verse must be contemplated as well.

“For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matt. 22:14)

The Almighty has revealed Himself to us in every way that is necessary for us to realize who He is, the Sovereign Creator of all reality, everything we need to know about this truth is written down for us, so why then, in light of this truth, does mankind rebel against Him whom none can stand against, why are His truths not recognized as such by all?

Why does faith not always arrive to some who hear?

Those truths are recognized by all my friends, and it is why none in hell will ever have even one viable excuse.

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” (Romans 1:20)

Denying the Almighty, rejecting the sufficiency of the shed blood alone of the Lord Jesus Christ for our sins, being coerced and deceived by religious nonsense, basing our acceptance of the Lord on our works, every imaginable path has been walked by mankind since the day Adam sinned.

“To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;” (Jer. 26:5)

Before the Lord inspired men to write down His words, He spoke them audibly, He sent His servants the prophets, the invisible things have always been clearly seen by everyone who has ever been born, but with the inexpressible gift of free will comes the ability to deny the One who gave it to us. Nd to make matters worse, men led by pride, and sometimes our adversary, have started religious cults that draw away the simple-minded, that keep their eyes off of words like grace, assurance, off of verses such as John 10:28.

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

Every prophet of God, in fact, every man called by God fights a daily battle with the wicked, seeking for the lost, revealing to them who it is all will serve in one place or the other.

You know you are to be doing more than just reading His Word, more than just memorizing verses, more than just thinking about Him occasionally.

I offer you this truth, and recall the example given of my own father and perhaps others you have known as well, if salvational faith came by just hearing the Word of God, all who heard it spoken, read it for themselves, or listened as one offered to them the truths of the Scriptures would be saved, and they are not.

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)

A changed life that can be explained in no other way than the power of God in the life of those chosen by Him.

What is your response to His Word?

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
