I have been blessed in my life in more ways than I could ever have imagined by the Lord, He has called me to Himself, trained me and prepared me for the work that He has set before me, and not only that, but has given me pleasure as I perform them.
He has blessed me with a beautiful wife who is my closest companion, my best friend, a perfect helper who I am honored and privileged to know I will spend eternity with. We have peace in this house, a peace that at times indeed when we look at ourselves as we truly are we know we do not deserve, yet He is more than merciful and kind to us.
We not only study the Scriptures individually but hold devotionals together at least three times a day, seeking His face who first loved us, preparing our hearts to serve in whatever way He best sees fit for us, and always for His glory.
I tell you these things today in the hope that you also are experiencing these joys on a daily basis, and if not, in the prayer that you would set your face like a flint to do so. Neither one of us was born this way, neither one of us were raised in Christian homes, but that did not matter to the Lord, He called us where we were, was and has been extremely patient with us, and has blessed us with chastisement when we were not. We are loved with an everlasting love, we have the assurance of our eternal salvation, and we both know what it is the Lord has called us to do, that which could not be done if we attempted to do those tasks apart from each other.
This is what a marriage is to be, two becoming one, and it is the beginning of the fulfillment of John 17:23, “I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”
In heaven the ones you love the most here will still be the closest to your heart there, only Christ will hold the preeminent spot, but all of us will be as brothers and sisters, a family forever, under the headship of the Lord Jesus Christ. What awaits us throughout the ages upon ages we will go through together, with no fear, no pain, no tears, and always as a family.
What the Lord Jesus Christ has me doing for Him today will not last or be necessary in eternity, I know that, but it does not matter, as one door closes another is being opened, and through each door more opportunities exist to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord, to learn of His wonders, to experience pleasures forevermore. I had no idea five years ago that what I am being asked to do for Him today I would do, and I have no clue as to what He will ask me to do in five years from today, or in 10,000 years, I know only this now, I will enjoy it.
There is a great peace that comes with the knowledge of this truth, there is unspeakable joy in knowing that it will continue without end throughout all eternity, and there is a humility I cannot express in knowing that I have been chosen by Him who created all things.
I look forward with great anticipation in experiencing eternity with my lovely wife, I hope that you have someone as special to you to do the same with.
