Even the Elect

“God helps those that help themselves. Only Christians go to church. Too heavenly minded to be of any earthly good. Evil can only be defeated by good people. If it feels good, do it. We should have the right to be anything we want to be. The rich should be punished, by forcing them to give to the poor.”

How many more can you think of, how many precepts of the truths of the Word of God can you see that have been modified in these seven statements? That is part of our adversary’s responsibility, if you will, to twist the Scriptures, to transform truth into lies, and those lies sound as truth to most.

Spiritual discernment is the ability to tell the truth from a lie in Spiritual matters, and it can only come from the Lord. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” (James 4:8) Drawing nigh does not mean drawing closer to Him, no man comes any closer to God than what He allows, it means to seek His face, to be consumed with a desire to learn as much about Him as we can, and only He determines when He will reveal more of Himself to us.

Until we understand fully the word Sovereign and understand that the word is reserved solely for the Almighty, just as the word Holy is, we will never submit in all humility to Him or His will in our lives, the lies will continue to deceive us.

All seven of those opening statements that are offered in this poorly written letter to you are a lie, a fabrication, what some would call a half truth, but they are what the world, and sadly many Christians think, because they have not sought the face of God. “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numb. 23:19)

Truth only comes from the Lord, if you hear someone speaking or if you read something that someone has written and it can be verified from the Scriptures, it comes from God, man has no wisdom of his own in Spiritual matters, but all is revealed to us by the Lord, and only when He chooses. No one who does not trust the Lord Jesus Christ implicitly will be blessed with wisdom, many who have indeed been born-again do not have wisdom, or at least as much as others who are their brothers and sisters in Christ, and it is not because they have not asked, or because they do not desire it, but because the Lord, in His infinite wisdom has determined that the wisdom and Spiritual discernment that He has blessed them with is the amount they need.

Of all created beings, and this I would only presume, that has the most Spiritual discernment, Satan would have to be at the top of the list, for to be able to speak a lie, he must first know the truth, and since he is the father of lies, it presupposes that he has the most Spiritual discernment of the Most High’s creation. No one believes a lie when they know the truth, and the truth cannot be believed unless it has first been tested and known as such.

Here is where the just live by faith, trusting that every word, every sentence, every account in the Word of God is truthful, and without error. Adam and Eve did not believe that God had told them the truth, or they would not have fallen.

The more the Almighty decides to grow us in Spiritual discernment, the more subtle the deceits of Satan upon the man of God. Look around today and you will see the truth of this statement, many who have been lifted up by the Lord have fallen into the traps, and many more will also, the chaff is being separated from the wheat. The days are growing darker, the lies are becoming increasingly more subtle, and the man of God who would seek the face of God for the glory of God will be tested in this area.

Prepare yourselves accordingly. “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.” (Mark 13:22)
