“Don’t worry, be happy.” That’s the message from most of the pulpits today, not convictions of the man and woman of God, not submission to the will and Word of the Almighty, not humble servitude, just be happy. “Everything will work out in the end, just stay motivated, keep a good perspective and everything will be alright.”
Perspective is one of the reasons that we are in this mess, why evil is running rampant, why depression and suicide is at an all time high, along with every conceivable malady of the human mind that can be thought of, evil is on the loose. “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2 Tim. 3:13)
The perspectives that the media is offering is now nearly one hundred percent doom and gloom, not only on earthly matters, but in the divisions of the populace, the have nots and the haves, the vaccinated and the vax deniers, divide and conquer, that is and always has been the adversaries plan for these last days. Those who will be left behind and survive to see the approach of the tribulation period will have only two choices, submit and live, or rebel and die, there will be no in-between.
In the meantime, many behind the pulpits across the globe go about the program on Sunday morning as if positive thoughts will alter what is coming, or at least assist them in coping with it. No one wants to hear bad news every day, especially not on Sunday morning, let the sun shine, sing the happy songs, feel uplifted, until around Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning, then the Sunday morning fix is needed again. “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” (John 15:11)
I have heard so many people speaking lately that want so badly for the rapture to happen so they can “Get out of here and be with Jesus.” Apparently, most of these individuals must have skipped over that verse.
Happiness is not joy, joy cannot be altered or modified, it does not change, and it never departs, so these individuals are not looking for joy, but happiness, which generally means only a change in the current circumstances of their lives. I’m guessing that if they won millions of dollars in the lottery their stance would change overnight.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt. 6:33) “Alright, just please don’t make me poor.”
“Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me.” (Prov. 30:8) “Just not rutabaga soup and turnip greens, please.”
“If the sun is at high noon, if there is not a cloud in the sky, if the temperature is just right, then I will glorify your name, just don’t send any thunderstorms alright?” No trials, no tribulations, at least not on their doorsteps, they are more than happy to pray for those people “over there” or for the old Mrs. Johnson’s rheumatoid hip, they’re just not willing to accept any inconvenience upon themselves. The sun must always shine, happiness is the key to life.
I have noticed that nearly all of these people who desire happiness and contentment above all else, who are continuously looking for the return of the Lord so they can “get out of here,” are getting virtually all of their information from the news media and social media sites, their lives, for the most part have not been altered one bit, they still rise each morning and go about their normal routine, unaffected, except mentally, by the planet-wide occurrences. That, my friends, is something worth contemplating. “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” (Psalm 16:11) In His presence is also the ultimate happiness, and you should be in His presence every day.
