Don’t Lead if You Won’t Follow

Truth today is not going to make you very many friends, especially when that truth comes from the Word of God. It is seen as hate speech now, pride tells us that we have the right and power to do as we desire, the only limitations are those that we set upon ourselves, and along with the diminishing limitations comes a very important factor, the loss of shame.

It was expected of course by those that our Lord has given eyes to see and ears to hear, for it was the first consequence of the fall of our parents in the garden of Eden. “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.” (Gen. 3:8) Many individuals do not attempt to hide their shame any longer, they are emboldened, and with this comes in our time the fulfillment of another verse. “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Romans 1:32)

Since the media around the planet has for the most part become not only extremely liberal, but also anti-Christian, at least against those who still hold the moral values of the Scriptures, it can seem as if the majority of people are going along with all this liberalism, with the turning away from the precepts set down by the Lord. I do not know for a fact if all those who pay enormous sums to advertise upon these television stations and other media outlets completely agree with all that is happening, but I must conclude that the answer would be in the affirmative, for where the money is, that is where they will go.

Many Christians have also fallen into this trap of the adversary, there is no shame in many churches when it comes to the commercialism and entertainment of their services, but it goes much deeper than that, they have begun to teach and preach that we must become the friend of the world if we want to reach the world. It is amazing the amount of nodding in affirmation plastic faces one sees in the church settings these days when these lies are presented, when people of faith are told to do the exact opposite of what the Scriptures say, (James 4:4) but worse is the fact that it has been occurring for quite some time and is growing more and more prevalent.

The truths of the Word of God towards the lost does not diminish unless it is watered down by pastors and preachers who are attempting to gain favor from the congregation or community members and leaders. “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.” (Matt. 10:34) Not words you will hear from many pulpits these days, and it is even more rare to hear them on the street corner. We want to be everyone’s friend, we never want to offend, but let me explain something to you my friends, if you are boldly preaching the truths of the Scriptures, you are not going to have many friends, and you most definitely are going to offend.

Try asking your pastor or those who are in positions of leadership in your church if you should tell a lost soul that you are witnessing to that they are a sinner, wicked in the eyes of God, (Hab. 1:13) and that if they do not repent, they will face eternal damnation. Hopefully they would say, “Of course, it’s the truth, isn’t it!” But more than likely they will do all they can to stop you, to show you that perhaps that is not the way to go about reaching the lost, it is too coarse, too direct, too impolite, and you might drive them away. I have heard nearly these exact words from not only elders but pastors of two separate churches in our area, needless to say, these churches are most definitely not “on fire” for Christ.

Welcome to the new world my friends, the world of the “milk toast” Christian, the world where Christians believe that if they become friends with the world, then they can lead the lost out of the world. Talk about deceit, go figure.
