Content Here

“For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:” (1st Cor. 1:26)

You will not find those that are wise in the ways of the world sacking items in a grocery store or driving a cab, anymore than you will find those who have the riches of this world purchasing a vehicle from a used car lot. But you will find those who have been born-again in those places.

The question is, can you be content in that life without desiring the luxuries of this planet?

An old saying for you my friends, “It is better sometimes to want something than it is to have it.” I would add to that though that it is also safer, for not only in possessing them might we find ourselves drawn away from the path, but in the desire of them we can become discontent.

Satan does not need to place those items within our reach for us to fall, but the desire, if left unchecked, will be enough for our lust to be conceived.

“Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.” (Prov. 23:3)

The real question is for you though this, have you become so disillusioned that your thoughts continuously revolve around “It will be better in heaven?”

A lack of contentment here in this life is a lack of acceptance of what your Father in heaven has determined to be the fulfilment of your needs, to want more of the world and all of its treasures is to stop laying up your treasures in heaven.

Dissatisfaction with your lot in life comes from coveting that which your Father in heaven knows would be a stumbling block in your walk with Him. But instead of realizing this truth, many who profess His name let those thoughts of “It will be better someday” rule in their mind, and do not realize they are losing the battle of contentment here, that the joy of the Lord they profess to have is based on what they have here, of the material items they possess, and no matter how much they own, they will never be content.

More of the world and calling them blessings of the Lord is a subtle trap of our adversary my friends, and possessing those items is not even necessary, coveting them is enough to cause us to question the Almighty’s love for us.

“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” (Psalm 37:4)

Does your heart need those things, or can you praise Him on that dunghill, is there joy in your heart in the dungeon, can you lift His name up above the heavens if He leaves you at the rich man’s gate waiting for the crumbs of the world?

There is no proof of contentment from the one in the mire whose thoughts revolve around “It will be better when He takes me home.”

Of course we desire to be in His presence in heaven, we desire to be removed from this vile and wicked world of lust and pride, we pine for the days of Psalm 16:11, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

So then my friends, you must ask yourself this question, the path of life that He has placed you on, how much of this world, its items and comfort, do you need to remain content here?

The wisdom of this world says the more the better, the Most High knows the danger of that lie in your life, that the continual pursuit of the items of this world, even if it is only in your mind, will cause you to stop pursuing Him. And it is imperative that you realize this truth as well, if you are seeking the treasures of heaven, you are not seeking Christ, for He alone is our treasure.

What you have been blessed with, remain content in, if He removes all of it, remain content in Him.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
