Contending For The Faith

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 1:3)

When I have the time, and when I believe I am being called to by the Holy Spirit, I search through the current YouTube page that appears and I contend for the faith with those who dispute the truths of the Scriptures. Romanists sites, videos created by false prophets, those who speak of specific things that they say are going to happen at certain times because God told them so.

When contending for the faith, we have only one recourse, the word of God presented verbatim, no opinions are to be expressed, the subject matter must be adhered to, and context does not only become important, it is mandatory.

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)

By doing so I am in no way attempting to belittle anyone, my goal is never to make them seem stupid or to make myself seem wiser, I am there to correct, if necessary, reprove, and if they refuse to listen, to rebuke. The Almighty does not need us to stand up for Him, but He calls us to do so when necessary, we are ambassadors from His Kingdom, and we are always to behave appropriately.

It is why you will read in these letters occasionally the following words, “I never agree to disagree when it comes to the truths of God.”

A man of God from long ago, when the Roman Catholic cult was making inroads into the nation he lived in, impressed upon those that listened to him to point out all the errors of the past that demonic led institution had done, and while at times that may be required, I disagree with him on this point. Those in that system of lies and corruption can point quite easily to those they call “protestants” and reveal just as many faults.

“Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68)

Stick to the Scriptures, word for word, add your own words of wisdom if you have been blessed to be able to expound upon His truths, but stick to the words of God, and always in context. If they rebuke you, and nearly all of them will attempt to, they have no personal recourse upon you but this, you believe without question the truths you have offered to them.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” (Matt. 23:37)

They will hate you because you love Him, and since they cannot get to the Most High, they will take their wrath out on you.

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?” (Psalm 2:1)

But I caution you here, if you have what has been called “thin skin,” if you are offended easily, if you are not positive, or are as of yet unlearned in the Word of God, adhere your life to the path He has set before you, but continue to study to show yourself approved, so that you will be able to contend for the faith in wisdom and truth.

I take no joy in these encounters, no more than Elijah did when he stood against the prophets of Baal, because I have learned to apply over the years the truth of this verse many times.

“Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.” (Prov. 14:7)

I would desire the outcome to be different each time, that those I contend with would see the error of their thinking, but out of perhaps the thousands of times this has been placed before me, only a handful comes to mind that heard those truths. And my friends, I have been one of them, many times.

“For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:” (Prov. 6:23)

Unless you are specifically told differently by the Holy Spirit, never back away, never back down, never agree to disagree.

If you are not standing on and contending for the truths of the Word of God, then it is either time to start, or figure out why you will not.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
