Cause and Effect

“Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:” (Romans 5:20)

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, cause and effect. We know from the Book of Daniel and other Old Testament writings, we are shown in Matthew 24 and Luke 17 what is going to happen from the Rapture of the church all the way to the new heaven and earth, much of the Word of God reveals these days to us. It reveals to us the effect of the cause, but what is the cause?

What is the initiator, the tipping of the fulcrum fully that will be the moment the Rapture happens, and the seven years of Tribulation begins?

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” (Matt. 24:12) Is that enough? Is it enough for those who have the Holy Spirit in them to begin to become less concerned with their neighbor than with themselves? Will it be enough for those who have been crucified with Christ to start esteeming themselves above others?

What of the iniquity that is abounding that is perhaps the catalyst, or the cause for those hearts to grow colder, is there a level of sin that will cause the Lord to say, “Enough, no more, bring them home, my wrath is about to be revealed.”

It happened before, that’s why He had Noah build an ark. “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.” (Luke 17:26)

It happened before, “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;” (Luke 17:28)

“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.” (2nd Thess. 2:7) He who lets is the Holy Spirit, sin can only go as far as He says, but it is the people of the Almighty that are to stand against evil. Are we not standing as we should and so evil is running rampant. Is this the cause?

Perhaps in a way it is similar to when Balaam taught Balak how to coerce the people of God into sinning. Perhaps it is not just the wicked who are growing bolder in their rebellion against the Lord, not just hearts that are growing colder, but born-again believers who are straying too close to the wide path.

Perhaps the cause is us.

Perhaps we need to be removed before we step too far out of line, prodigal sons that are finding the world a comfortable place.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, the reaction is the Rapture of the church, those that are hid in Christ, but what is the cause, what will cause the Lord to move at that moment that only He knows the day and hour of?

There is one person, perhaps alive on this planet today, that will be the last person to be saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, one last Christian to be hid in Christ. Perhaps we are waiting for that person.

Too many whose love is growing cold, too many in open rebellion against the Sovereign Lord of all creation, too many wicked people not being held accountable for their wicked deeds? I do not know. Perhaps it is a compilation of all these things and more. We can see the signs clearly, but what caused those signs to appear is not fully known to us.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons for so many of our adversary’s diversions at this time, so that we will not seek the truth of these things, for if one understands the cause of a thing, one can at least attempt to affect some sort of change to the outcome.

What is approaching cannot be stopped, why it is approaching is the question I put before you today.
