“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” (Eph. 2:8)
From Adam to you who are reading this, every Gentile, every Jew, no one has ever been saved in any other way than through grace by faith. Being obedient to the law never saved anyone from their sins, being disobedient to God never caused Him to forsake any, for have we not all been disobedient to His will and Word in our lives at times?
“For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” (Romans 4:3) Long before the law.
I am finding it almost impossible to assist those I meet in understanding these truths, for not only has it been ingrained in them for so long, but all of us, no matter which nation we live in are subject to laws, and if there is an infraction on your part against those laws, is there not a punishment expected by you, are we not taught, yeah, even herded like cattle to obey lest we be punished? It is how many think of Christ, in fact it is published as such by the cult of Romanism, obey in every aspect or the wrath of God will fall upon you.
Can a murderer expect to enter heaven, can the one who has been saved by grace through faith who then finds himself trapped by pornography still expect to live in the presence of the Lamb?
If we break the laws of God after we are saved, will we then be eternally damned?
If you were saved by grace through faith why would you ever consider returning, “and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” (Gal. 5:1) Will it please God if you now try to serve by faith the law, that which could never be accomplished by any in the thousand plus years the law was in effect? Did not Paul rebuke Peter for this same mistake?
Is adherence to the Ten Commandments necessary for your salvation? Does faith in the Lord Jesus Christ now give you greater power to adhere to them, and thereby become more pleasing in the eyes of God?
“Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” (Romans 3:20)
Have you been convicted of your sins? Have you repented of them, called upon the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of them, have you been born-again, do you have the Holy Spirit inside of you, are you a child of God, hid in Christ, the righteousness of God in Christ? Do you need to go back to the law to convict you further of that which you could not adhere to in the first place?
All who have ever been saved have been saved by grace through faith.
It is good, proper and holy to desire to please our Father in heaven, but attempting to follow the law, that which could never be done by anyone ever, will not do so. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)
Submission to the will of God, a life lived to glorify Him, to lift up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the only One who ever fulfilled the law. Hearing and obeying the Holy Spirit, that is how we become pleasing in the eyes of the Almighty. You were saved by grace through faith, grow in that grace and knowledge of the truth.
