There has been a new Bible introduced into the marketplace, again. It is said of this one that there have been nearly 20,000 changes made, and one report, which I have not yet read, but would more than likely agree with, says that this is 20,000 reasons Christians should be upset.
I am not surprised by this revelation, nor will I make it my cause to see it banned or otherwise hindered or modified, my cause is Christ. This has always been Satan’s path, his responsibility, so to speak, is to thwart the attempts of the people of God to proclaim the good news of God, to cause deceptions, diversions and lies upon those who have been called to the path of righteousness. “If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.” (Prov. 29:9)
In this instance, and in truth all instances where the Word of God is dishonored, we are to take a stand when possible, but we must pray for understanding as to which battle is ours, and which is not, many a good intentioned man of God has been led off the path when he has not been called by God to do so. “He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.” (Prov. 26:17) We tend to take on a cause that we have not been called to battle with because it seems the right thing to do, and like many items over the course of our short lives, at the time it seems correct, but time and experience will show that it was no more than a planned diversion by our adversary, that the cause we have chosen to fight for was not our battle.
I am built in such a way, so to speak, to find answers, when a situation occurs in my life, I will not cease in attempting to find an answer to the problem until every possible avenue is traversed, I will research everything that I can find, it is a good trait and a misleading one at the same time, for it shows great initiative, but it can also hinder the work that has been set before me.
They used to be called “bunny trials,” and if you have ever walked in the timber, in the woods you will know that where there is one bunny trail, you will soon find many, many more. These are there on purpose, they are meant to pull us away from the tasks that we know the Lord has set before us, and all of them are made to look so very important. We call them our cause, and many cannot see them for what they are, diversions.
“For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.” (Isaiah 50:7) “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.” (Psalm 27:8)
Paul tried to explain to the Corinthians that it was time to get away from the milk of the Word and start searching for the deeper things of Christ, (1 Cor. 3:2) he did not say that it was time to start rebelling against evil authorities, to fight against the newest translation of the Bible, to protest abortion, fight gender equality laws, or lockdowns and mandates, he said we should search for God.
The causes, the bunny trials, the diversions have always been there, and all are available to us, but is it what you are supposed to be doing, are you sure it is the path that you are to be on, the one that brings glory to God. I will use this as an example in the most humble way that I can, for I agree that abortion is wrong, that it is evil, but I offer these words for contemplation upon the subject matter in this short letter; if all abortions were halted today, how would that bring glory to God?
There are many causes to choose from, make sure it is one that the Lord has set you on, and not one of the bunny trails that will lead you off the path that you are to be on.
