What shall I call them, stupid, lost, heathen, or should I just stick to what the Scriptures name them, fools. “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” (Psalm 14:1)
Have you ever taken the time to see just how many times that word “fool” is in the Scriptures, it would be worth your time, in fact, it might make an excellent short Bible study, for these fools, these poor lost souls are the enemy, the enemy we are not only to pray for, but to withstand, to rebuke and reprove, we are to be “wise as serpents, and harmless as doves,” (Matt. 10:16) because many of them are very tricky, they put on sheep’s clothing, hoping we will not see they are wolves. They are “Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;” (2 Peter 2:13) and if we do not study about them, they will have the upper hand, as it were, they will deceive you, and lead you away from the truth.
Our adversary, the father of lies, is their leader, whether they will admit they are following him or not, if their actions and words do not emulate and lift up the name of Jesus not only in their actions, but in their words, then they are of their father the devil. (John 8:44) There is of course only one way to defeat our enemies, these lost souls, and love them at the same time, with the Word of God, nothing else will avail you, your opinions, your ideas about the Scriptures, even the structure of the best laid plans to assist them will never come close to what the Word of God will do in their hearts, you should know this for a fact, you were once one of them. (Eph. 2:1)
Here is where you must seek for wisdom, you must think back, no matter if it was yesterday or a half century ago, and answer this question for yourself, “Who brought you to Christ?” I could write some irrelevant words here, pretending to give you some time to contemplate your answer, but I will just speak truth immediately, if you said anyone other than God, you spoke incorrectly. “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:44) Every single born-again believer was brought to Christ by God, and only those who were chosen. (Eph. 1:4) And what does Jesus say about those whom the Father has given Him, “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37) God gives us to Christ, Christ keeps us, and then returns us, as it were, to the Father. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) It is a perfect circle, it is the circle of grace, and these fools we are speaking about cannot see it, will never see it, unless you mention it to them.
In these ever-increasing days of absurdity, I speak to a lot of fools, I also speak to individuals who I believe are saved, but are completely incorrect in their dividing of the truths of the Word of God, and here is where the wisdom of God, the wisdom that He has blessed all who diligently seek after wisdom, must enter into the conversation. The unlearned, for the most part, are quite easily recognizable, they speak of how what Christ did on the cross was not enough, how Jesus is not God, all manner of items that attempt to place man in the position of God, or at least as a necessary part of their own supposed salvation. They are the religious individuals, and rarely do they care to continue the conversation when the truths of the Scriptures are expounded properly.
But our brothers and sisters in Christ who have not spent time in the Word, who do not know how to divide the words of truth properly, that do not understand that “No prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation,” (2 Peter 1:20) must be held in the highest regard, for they are not only our brothers and sisters, but are children of the Most High, heirs of the kingdom with us. Absolute truth, but with firm conviction works with both of these groups, the truth must always be given in love, to some with great care and compassion, (Jude 1:22) “And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.” (Jude 1:23)
In either case, this does not take as much time as one might think, not if you are submitting to the will of the Holy Spirit, not if you allow Him to speak. His word will not go out and come back void, “but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11) All you need to do is be a willing messenger.
