Breaking News

If you have read any of these letters to you for any length of time, you will find one thing is true, rarely do they cover current events.

As I pen this letter markets across the planet are experiencing some of the worst losses ever recorded, war between Iran and Israel, if the many reports are to be believed, is imminent and unavoidable, and there is unprecedented violence in several nations at the moment. But all that will be old news by the time this letter, by the grace of God, appears on YouTube fifteen days from now, and over a month on the Borrowed Truths website.

“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” (Heb. 13:15)

These letters are for that purpose, to lift up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to the glory of God, to exalt His name above the heavens, and the world and its woes, the circumstances that surround us, along with any possible consequences to ourselves have little value in comparison to those truths.

I understand full well that people in general want to know what’s happening not only in their own nation, but around the world, and they want that information right now, and nearly every news broadcasting organization, every social media post will rush at full speed to be the first to get the “latest breaking news” out there. It’s good for ratings, it brings money in from advertisers, and on places like YouTube, it adds to the watches, likes and subscriber list.

“Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.” (Prov. 23:3)

I have no dainties to offer, I offer myself to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to use me for the glory of the Living God however He sees fit.

Could I rush and write a quick letter or produce a quick video and get it posted within a few hours at most after each of these supposed earth shattering “need to know or you’ll be left behind in the knowledge” events? Yes, of course, but haven’t you got enough of those to watch? I am not concerned with holding your attention, the only time I take a few moments to see how many views these letters have garnered is when I am posting the next ones to the channel.

Consider this, how many supposed Christian social media sites do you visit whose main content seems to be about current events, or at least of items that have occurred in just the last few days? And how many of them will speak at length about those events, yet save only the last few minutes of their presentation for what I call that “come to Jesus” sermon?

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

I have no intention of conforming to the world, so, if you read these letters hoping to find some new revelation or the current events, or my take on them, you will be sorely disappointed.

My lovely wife and I keep up with what is going on in the world, but we do so without fear, and rarely if ever, is it a topic of conversation between us beyond a few minutes or so.

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” (Deut. 6:6-7)

We converse about the things of Christ, of the mercy, longsuffering, grace and love of the Lord our God, of the works of the Holy Spirit within us and in others who have been born-again.

The point is to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and following the world my friends is not how that is done.

“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;” (Psalm 8:3)

So, if you’re looking for news about what this world is going through, you’ve come to the wrong place. If you desire to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord, I pray these letters will assist you with that.

There are several items I would ask you to consider before you click on the Donate button.

1.    Please pray carefully about donating; “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2nd Cor. 9:7)

2.    Your first responsibility is to the Lord; “Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase”: (Prov. 3:9)

3.    You must consider your family after your first responsibility; “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1st Tim. 5:8)

4.    If you determine that you have been blessed by this ministry and decide to donate, please know this, your donations will be accepted with great thanks, and all the glory will go to God.
