Before the Lord called me to Himself, I saw a purpose in nearly everything I did, and at the root of that purpose was my self-gratification. Did it lift me up not only in my own esteem, but in the eyes of others, did it provoke a positive emotional response, did I feel as if I had accomplished something?
A scant one hundred years ago most people on the planet did not have indoor plumbing, travel to far away places took weeks if not months, and most generally was reserved for the wealthy, newsworthy events took much time in arriving, offering the hearer the opportunity to digest what that news was. One of the signs, so to speak, of the final days of the age of grace is Daniel 12:4, “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” In mere hours one can be on the other side of the planet, knowledge is now at the fingertips of all who have internet access, but the World Economic Forum and many world leaders are claiming we need to “Build Back Better.”
They claim disparity among the masses, they claim to have the solution to the problems they have created, and they have the power to attain that which they desire. The simple life will be forced upon all. “For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.” (Matt. 26:11)
Here is why those who are not Spiritually discerning are easily led astray, when one has not been shown the truth, one cannot discern between the lies.
To make all of a man’s life to seem profitable, Satan must not allow for any contemplation, the news must not be allowed to be digested, and if you have been paying any attention whatsoever these last few decades, you will see this to be truth. There is always a diversion prepared, the speed at which the deceptions are occurring is astounding, and with more information available, less attention is paid to that which is profitable.
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10) Is not the way of many who serve Christ today, the topic of conversation is not the Lord Jesus in most churches, or even when they join together in groups to converse, it is the news of the day, not even the news of yesterday. The man who serves Jesus Christ is not so easily deceived, he knows what he has been called to do, the diversions hold no sway over him. This does not mean that he is not attentive to a degree to what is occurring across the planet, but he does not spend any time on that which is not profitable, but on that which will glorify God.
It does little good to sound the warning to those who can already see the danger, and to attempt to warn those who are not Spiritually discerning of these days is a waste of one’s time. We are to call sinners to repentance and edify the believers in their walk. It is quite easy for our adversary to pull many off the path the Lord has set them upon, especially in days such as these, for the temporary “Breaking News” is like the call of the barker at the carnival, enticing, demanding our attention with items that seem so very important.
The last two years have proven these words to be true, evangelism has been replaced with the news of the day, worship services are now updates on the “dire situation,” and instead of many remaining intent on following Christ, on staying on the straight path, their eyes, ears and feet are drawn towards that which serves no purpose but self-gratification, of unnecessary knowledge.
Those who have not been caught in the trap are seen by many as unprofitable, for they have not kept up with the news of the day, but they are the only ones that can truly see what the purpose of a man is, to glorify God. (Isaiah 43:7) Ask yourself this, by keeping up, or attempting to obtain all the information you possibly can about these days, these beginnings of sorrows, how does that assist you in growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord? It is a subtle trap indeed.
