Does it make sense to you that after Joseph was forcibly removed from Potipher’s house, that all that man had fell into disrepair, that because Joseph was gone, the blessings ceased?
“And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” (Gen. 12:3)
That verse was more than just for Abraham as an individual, it extended and I personally believe still extends, to all Israel, though hindered at times because of national sins. But does it extend to those who are of the faith of Abraham, all who have been born again?
“Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.” (Gal. 3:7)
Since we are not of the nation of Israel, grafted into the vine by faith, yet not of the bloodline, are those who are hid in Christ to expect the fulfillment of those same words the Almighty spoke to Abraham, will those that bless us be blessed, and those that curse us be cursed?
Where you are employed, has it prospered because you are there? The places of business that you frequent are they busier, do more people set foot in them when you are there? Are those that know you and are congenial towards you blessed in a way unrecognized by them because of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and are those who mock and ridicule you, either to your face or behind your back, struggling, cursed because of the way they act towards you?
“And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” (Job 1:21)
If this has happened to you in any form, the Lord has decided that pain, suffering and loss is the part of the path that He wants you to walk upon for a season, those of the world that assist you, either emotionally, physically, or in any other way, will the Almighty bless them, and those who enjoy mocking the continuation of your trust and faith in the Living God during those days, will they be cursed by Him?
“And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2nd Peter 3:4)
Here is my answer for you, I do not know.
I would like to think that all that has been written here is a truth, and it seems as if it should be, because we who are hid in Christ are of the seed of faith of Abraham, and since Genesis 15:6 was a truth for him, it is a truth for us.
“And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2nd Cor. 5:21)
I do not think that it would be wise of you to put this to the test, but we should be able to look back on our lives and, if it is true, see the proof of what has been written here.
The question is this, are those still of the world either blessed or cursed by the way they react to us, by the way they treat us, either openly or in their own minds?
We are not a nation, so to speak, of believers, of followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are of the vine of faith, not of Israel’s national heritage, and so, if what is written here is truth it would be on an individual basis. And so, it would necessitate if indeed we are following the Lord Jesus Christ to the glory of the Most High, and not going astray intentionally, that it would be truth.
It will take a much wiser man than me to offer you a definitive answer, so I will simply leave you to your thoughts on this subject.
