No governmental authority has any power whatsoever unless it has at least one of two things, people that believe in what it says and thereby willingly obey, or a force of some kind that will make people obey. “But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.” (Matt. 24:43)
If we who have been born-again would keep our eyes open, much of what is occurring today would not be happening is a false saying, these days were prophesized centuries ago, nothing can stop what is approaching, but the question must be answered, how much of Romans chapter eight are we to adhere to in light of the evil that is abounding?
The Almighty has placed these evil men in positions of the highest authority on the planet, and as that chapter speaks, we are to be subject unto them, but I fear that many do not Spiritually discern well when we are to submit and when we are not to.
“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7)
Another example for you, “But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” (Daniel 3:18)
When Peter and John were commanded not to speak any more in the name of Jesus Christ, they left the prison and went right back out into the street and started preaching again.
All these and more since those days recorded for us have disobeyed the authorities placed in position by the Lord. Was that disobedience honorable in the sight of the Lord? I offer you this, if you are compelled to disobey what those in authority have laid down as law, you must be willing to accept the consequences for your actions, this is why they bear the sword, this is why those who will not obey will be punished.
Perhaps more than anytime in history Isaiah 5:20 is unfolding before our eyes, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” The leaders of governments are setting laws and mandates in place to ensure that this not only continues, but grows, and they have forces behind them to make sure that these evil precepts are enforced. You, if you are going to stand against the evil, must be willing to pay the penalty for doing so, you must believe in your heart two things, that you are honoring God by doing so, and the truth of Philippians 1:21, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
If you are going to apply Psalm 94:16, “Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?” you will be punished, and possibly very severely.
Wheat is beneficial, chaff is not, vines that bear fruit are useful, those that do not are cast into the fire.
Perhaps the Lord will not bring you to that point, but if He brings you to that crossroad, you will have to make a decision, and that decision may not just bring inconvenience into your life, it may bring pain, suffering and death. You will not be the first, but there is a day approaching that one of us who has been crucified with Christ will be the last before the Rapture happens and this age of grace comes to a close. “Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.” (2 Cor. 7:9)
That is all I am going to offer you, I am not going to give examples, I am not going to tell you to adhere or rebel against the authorities over you, you must pray for Spiritual discernment as to your actions if and when that circumstance arrives in your life. You know who you serve, He will guide you.
Pray for wisdom in this matter, beg the Almighty for guidance, follow the prompting from the Holy Spirit that you know as truth from Him. We have been set in a time that none of us would have chosen, you may have to go through the fire before you are blessed to sit beside the still water.
Prepare yourself accordingly.
