We teach the account to the young in Sunday school, even unto the very young, pictures of animals coming into the ark two by two, Noah standing at the top of the ramp, the door to the massive ark, we show the waves and the roaring sea, and then tell them of the love and protection of the Lord. And well we should, for if you “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Prov. 22:6)
I am old, I know the truth of the account, I can see in my mind’s eyes people looking up at the sky and watching for the first time ever on the planet water falling from the sky, I can see the terror slowly creep into their minds as they recall the words of the crazy old man over in the valley who spoke of this coming day, the one they mocked, I can see them running with their own small children, and I can see them screaming and drowning.
Many adults I have met can tell you “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.” (Matt. 24:38) But few can tell you why the wrath of God fell upon this planet, why some of the most frightening words ever recorded were written down to last for all eternity. “And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.” (Gen. 6:13) And fewer still today will make that correlation to the times we are living in, “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Gen. 6:5)
Satan my friends has not become more evil as time has passed, he has simply found new and different ways to exhibit his hatred of the Most High, and we as a human race do not need him to assist us in our rebellion against the Most High, this was proven in the garden, for Adam was not tempted, the decision was his own, and when our adversary is chained for a thousand years, men will still sin of their own accord. God looks on the heart, (1 Sam. 16:7) men do not need to perform deeds of open rebellion against the Most High, it is as adding insult to injury, but we are, and the Lord has determined a time to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their sin, a time only He knows. (Matt. 24:36) “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Romans 1:32)
Every true child of the Most High is interested in one thing only, bringing glory to God, in whatever form He sees fit for their life, they do not hide their candle, (Luke 8:16) but evil is abounding, and will continue to do so, for the Lord has removed His hand of protection away from a large part of this planet, and Satan needs no prompting to move quickly into these areas. Just recently the Roman Catholic Institution said that homosexuals can now live together in civil union, this did not surprise me, it has never sought the things of God since its inception, and it is the iron mixed in with clay in the feet of the statue in the dream of Daniel. (Dan. 2:43) What is surprising is the amount of people that they have in bondage and how easily they accepted this new precept.
It proves a point, one that sadly over the last few years has crept into even the most Evangelical churches, we like to watch the animals go two by two into the ark, but we forget, or do not want to discuss, the reason why this was necessary in the first place. What many like to call an enlightened society today is nothing more than a darkening of the soul of man in his own rebelliousness and continuing hardening heart toward the Most High. “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.” (Luke 17:26) Our Lord did not just mean that people would be going about their business as usual, leave those thoughts for the minds that do not contemplate the Word of God, His inference was also to the heart of man, a heart that would become so reprobate in its thoughts and actions, an evil and rebellious people who have not just forgotten the face of the Lord God, but who by their own free will and incredible pride have decided to spit upon Him.
The end of all flesh will not happen this time my friends, but it will be close, “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” (Matt. 24:22) How few truly born-again believers are there today? There were only eight in the ark, compared to the millions that died.
