As In The Days

When asked about what are called end time events, and kept to a Scriptural relevancy, the most common denominator is Matthew 24:38, “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.” The marrying and giving in marriage seem to bring about a vision of people going about their daily business, performing the necessary chores and finding enjoyment and pleasure when and where they could.

Many seem to skip over the verse of Genesis 6:5, “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Those that do not recognize it as truth seem to have some difficulty in relating the times we are in with those days, they cannot correlate in their minds the wonder of a technological society, one with available food, medical services and all the other wonders that are present in the days we live in. It matters not what the external looks like to the Lord, He looks on the heart, and the heart of man during the entirety of his time here on planet earth has been evil.

Evil is held in check by the Holy Spirit, and He uses those who have been born-again to accomplish this task, He works through us. When the work is left undone, evil flourishes, and if indeed we are in the beginnings of sorrows, (Matt. 24:8) then some who are to be standing in the darkness with the light that shows them the way to Jesus Christ are remiss in their duties, if these are indeed the last days of the age of grace, then it is because the apostacy, the great falling away has begun.

Evil cannot gain a foothold where righteous men and women of God stand, it is as the darkness that covered the land of Egypt and spared where the children of Israel lived, (Exodus 10:21-23) it is as the Red Sea, standing upright as a wall, while they walked on dry ground. We are to stand by obeying the Word of God, we are to die to ourselves so that Christ may live in us. We are to be the light in a world of darkness.

If indeed we are “as in the days of Noah” then not enough Christians are doing their job. We follow “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching,” (Heb. 10:25) to stop evil, we go to those places of worship that still exist to do just that, worship the Lord God Almighty. To stand against evil you have only two options, go to where the evil is, or wait for it to show up at your door, and I fear that not only is the latter happening, but when the evil arrives many do not stand against it, but simply attempt to lock their doors and keep it out.

“And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” (Matt. 22:39) Most of your neighbors are like those in the city of Nineveh in the days of Jonah, they do not know their right hand from their left, (Jonah 4:11) they are blind to the Spiritual events that are occurring on the planet, we are to be as Noah was, warning of the impending doom of nearly all mankind, unless the Lord had shortened those days. (Mark 13:20)

As in the days of Noah means that evil is rampant, that men have forgotten the Most High, and that judgment is coming upon the entire planet. We will escape, the Lord Jesus will come for His own before the Tribulation times begin, and while that is an incomparable joy, and relief, it is not what we are to be focused on, Christ is and what He has commanded us to do is spread the gospel message to all who will listen, to encourage the brethren, and to lit up and glorify God above the heavens. If we are indeed in the times of “as in the days of Noah,” then we have an incredible burden placed upon us as the remnant, as the wheat among the tares, and we must do more than hide behind the walls of the church building and hope that everything turns out alright, we must do more than continuously pray for the rapture, we must stand, and those who stand upon the wall to warn of approaching danger are the first to see the enemy, and also the first ones that the enemy sees. Pray for each other.
