What is it that the born-again believers are waiting for, what one particular sign is it that will inform us that we are to be about the business of the Lord. It takes very little research today to see what the main topic is in the Christian community, many now speak of how we are in the last days of the last days, in fact, deep research is not even necessary, the imminent return of the Lord is upon the lips of many. Why, because there is massive flooding on a world-wide scale, fires burning across the planet, the most destructive this, the most powerful recorded that. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
We are beginning to reap what we have sown, a turning away from the Most High by any of His creation is seen as mutiny, and it is always dealt with harshly. But think on this, the waters will recede, the fires will be quenched, the economy will most likely recover, for how long and what will come next, only the Lord knows, but we cannot continue in the path that every storm, every event is a warning from God, some are of the hand of Satan. I have not all of a sudden determined that we are not in difficult times, I firmly believe we are indeed closer to our redemption than ever before, but only because the Scriptures say so, (Romans 13:11) because another day has passed and He has decided that I and all the believers are not done yet accomplishing His will before He removes us from this sinful world, before the terrible day of the Lord begins. (Joel 2:31) I speak instead on this venue today, have your thoughts been trapped by the circumstances of the immediate, is your focus on His imminent return based on what is occurring across the planet, or because of the knowledge of the truth that this is where He is leading you now.
These are difficult matters for some to differentiate, for do not the occurrences that we are witnessing speak of a God who is warning, One who is showing the world, lost and saved, that it is still He who rules the affairs of man. (Daniel 4:17) We already know that the Lord is going to return for His church, the wise servant understands there are no more prophesies to be fulfilled before that wonderful day, and so we must with much spiritual discernment be able to tell the difference between what is of the Lord and what is not in these matters in what is occurring on the planet today. There is a great cost to pay if we do not.
In 2 Thessalonians 3:10 Paul told the people that if they did not work, they should not eat, and many have misinterpreted his saying since that day. He was not speaking only to the lazy, but to those who believed in their hearts, because of the signs of the times they lived in, that Christ was coming back very soon. We are now, and have been many times in the past, at this same type of juncture in time, and the cost for us is the same, we may inadvertently be giving the lost an opportunity to blaspheme His Holy name. Yes, we should keep our spiritual eyes and ears open, yes, we must be aware of what is happening across the globe, but we must not step any further than what we have been commanded to. The main reason? “Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2 Peter 3:4)
Doomsayers, conspiracy theorist, prophets with no spiritual discernment have no place in the realms of these matters, if the Lord God has not taken you off that path that He has set you on, and placed you on the path that you think you should be on, than all you say will be mistaken, your words will be without strength or power. At any time in history you can find men who will say the end is near, and many will follow them blindly, without proof, for in a sense they want the end to be near, they are not concerned with warning the lost of their need for Christ, they want recognition at the least, and at best they just want to get off this sinful rock. Be sure of what you are repeating in these sinful days, yes, I to believe we are closer to our salvation than when we first believed, (Romans 13:11) but my responsibility is the same as your first responsibility is, to warn the lost they need a Savior, to tell them of their need for Christ. Everyone on this planet can easily see what is happening, the question is, are you telling them of the only One that can save them from the wrath to come.
