An actor is a person who takes on the persona of another individual, whether real or imagined, and the most talented ones become in their minds that person during the performance. It is a lie, and a deceit, but not always in a way that is meant in a destructive way towards those viewing the performance. It is difficult to say on an individual basis who those who become enamored with those actors are desirous of, the person performing the act, or the one they are pretending to be. “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” (2 Cor. 11:14)
The most skilled deceiver has begun to act in full, and the world loves what he is doing, the performance is entertaining, to those who are profiting from it. Money and riches are flowing like water to what we could call the “upper tier” of society, and as they enjoy the show, it bothers them not in the least to walk on the backs of the bruised, the lower cast. They do not realize that they are only bit players, from the so-called “one percenters,” to the media, to those who are in power of nations, providences, states and cities, they are unable to Spiritually discern what is occurring and what is approaching. “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:8)
Unwittingly, in at least some cases, those who have indeed been born-again are also being led astray, they have locked their church doors, they have rolled up their sleeves to accept the now in many places’ mandatory protection from this supposed virus and have found their bit part in this charade to be, at least in their minds, not detrimental to the walk they claim to have with the Lord.
An exceptionally good actor can make one believe almost anything, and the father of lies (John 8:44) has had many centuries honing his craft and modifying, if not intentionally leading around mankind to his desired goal, to be worshipped. To seek the admiration of others is the definition of vainglory, of pride. And when that pride cannot be attained by natural talents, acting is required, one must pretend to be something they are not, and it is most generally more than what they actually are.
There is of course only One who is worthy of all honor, praise and glory, and not just because of His deeds, but because of who He is, the Sovereign Lord of all creation. Nothing would exist if it were not for the Almighty, and so by default, He never needs to act, He never needs to attempt to be something that He is not, He is who He has always been, the Most High, the “I AM.”
It is a game that we play when we attempt to be something that we are not, when we attempt to be more then what we are, and even when we pretend to be less than what we are, faked, or supposed humility is just as debilitating, and evil, as any other sinful act, for it is in itself a form of pride. “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2 Tim. 3:13)
We live in the days of deception, truth is being denied in nearly every avenue, lies are the order of the day, and those who have not been blessed with Spiritual discernment in these days are being led astray. It is an old saying, “Repeat a lie enough times, and people will begin to believe it.” “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)
It is quite easy to take something from someone that they do not know how to defend, without fervent and honest prayers in great humility to the Lord for a heart that can discern between good and evil, (1 Kings 3:9) you may find yourself believing the actors on the stage today and may find out too late that you have been deceived.
