There are four words that are relatively new in this age of mankind, but historically speaking, are nearly as old as man. They are beyond the comprehension of those that have been born again, not in the idea of them coming to fruition, but in the resolute knowledge of the world that they should be expected by those who choose to live in them. Those four words are these.
“His husband. Her wife.”
“Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.” (Gen. 13:12)
We who have been sent with the message of repentance toward God, with the news of salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are to do the same in a sense, we are to set our tents toward Sodom, not to be enticed by it, by all that is available in Vanity Fair, but for the sake of those there. We are, all of us who are hid in Christ, watchers on the wall, and we must in all prayer and supplication, and with great caution apply Matthew 10:16 when we venture into that territory.
“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
And yes, we are to do so, for the words are given to us as well to all who have come before us who now reside in the presence of the Risen Lamb, we have been sent out as sheep amongst the wolves into an evil world.
The whole world lies in evil, and unless you have found a place to dwell outside of this planet, you must remain diligent in regard to those spots of this world. And you must remember this, those who are living in sin, in rebellion against the Word and will of Almighty God are doing so by their own free will, and this truth must abide in you as well, they have been blessed with the exact same thing that you have been blessed with, the same thing that all mankind has been blessed with, the free will to do with their lives as they please.
That is more than just important to remember, it is vital if you have been sent to speak with anyone about the free gift of salvation offered to all who have been born. But there is another very important item that many who are hid in Christ seem to be unable, or unwilling, to apply in their lives.
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” (Romans 1:28)
I could be mistaken here, but I don’t think so, I personally do not believe that anyone who has been given over to a reprobate mind by the Most High will ever be called back from that place. For them, He has stopped knocking on the door of their heart. And as you are speaking to people, as you are being wise as serpents, you must be able to discern this, in fact, we are commanded to.
“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” (Matt. 15:14)
Hope likes to attempt to spring eternal in our hearts, we do not care to contemplate that other thief on the cross.
It is imperative for you to understand who you are not to bid godspeed to my friends.
Sin is abounding by leaps and bounds in our day, the word “shame” is becoming for many a thing to be despised, the hedges are being lowered.
We have all been given free will, the ability to choose the path we desire for ourselves in this life, only the Holy Spirit can reveal to them the way off that wide path to eternal damnation. You are His messenger, know when to stop offering that message. End your conversation with this verse if you must.
“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Heb. 10:31)
